Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Until you manage to improve Search Discovery slow down the rapid expansion.Lets face it, the quality of accepted names goes down whilst the approved selling prices rocket

Buyers can only look thru so many names, you have to hope yours is one. For the marketplace it doesn't matter as long as they sell something. It is in the business of making profits, the more names the better.

If you don't believe quantity is an issue have a look at the downward trajectory of most Atom strs

Whether 140k names (like BrandBucket) or 360k names (like Atom) no buyer can look through all the names.

Search discovery is paramount - not total #'s listed. I sell more names at Atom than I do at BrandBucket. How do you explain that when they have less total names? There are myriad reasons, quality, # of buyers on platform, search discovery, etc - but one thing that does not correlate is total # of names

It's 370,000 at the moment and 400,000 by March. This time next year likely 450,000. The quality of names they now accept means there will be no slowdown.

For your sake, I hope not.

Long-time Atom WLM users probably already know this, but I just made this discovery and subsequent tweak to my pricing. Let me explain...

My Atom WLM had about 800 BIN names set to $5,995 -- and every 2-3 weeks I might add a Discount to bring it down to $4,888 (I like how the "SALE" is presented on the Atom Landers -- the orig BIN is crossed out and the sale price after discount is displayed).

So the last couple of days I've noticed in Google Analytics that there's been a few searches on my WLM in the price_range From$2K to $5K (see screenshot from GA).

Then I noticed on my Atom WLM that there is a quick filter button right on the main page (WLM / View All Names). See screen shot

So today I have adjusted all of my BIN names that were $5,995 to $4,988 so that they will appear when the user hits that quick filter button (Below $5K). I don't know if this will help sales, but I Just wanted to try it to see if I could engage the user by presenting all the names I would gladly accept for around $5K. Before they wouldn't see any names when using that quick filter button -- but now they will see about 800 names.

To be honest, it probably won't do anything, other than risk losing $1K from a buyer who really loved the domain and was prepared to pay even more.

But hey, if your sales start exploding, let us know!

In my Atom WLM stats (I'm using Statcounter), I notice that those priceโ€‘range requests are largely done by automated Facebook bots. Check Google Analytics to verify real user behavior before adjusting prices.

Yea it might not help at all. But thought I would post anyway for maybe those who have names priced at $5,100 or $5,200 -- you could lower it to just under $5K and have them presented to the user...

Better yet -- @Atom
Can that quick-filter button be user-defined -- say I want it to be for names priced below $10K -- or something like that? I know there are quick filter price ranges along the left hand side under All Filters / Budget -- but having that quick filter button for under $5K is quicker for the user to select...

thanks -- I haven't configured Statcounter yet -- maybe I'll do that this weekend to see what type of data I can get from that.

Now that makes total sense, but dropping the BINs on a pile of domains from $6K down to $5K, just to get on a filtered search list, might end up costing you more than it's worth.

And a user-configured 'maximum price" filter is a great idea.

Hello @Atom.com

Today I generated a checkout link, but when I tried it (to check if everything was right), I encountered the following red pop-up notice, which I had to close in order to see the name of the domain being sold. Is this normal? I have the Cloud Brokerage option DISABLED in my Settings.

Also, red notices are somewhat alarming usually, because they hint at some error or risk.

@Atom.com

Is there still a plan to include the Minimum Offer amount as an editable field at the domain level?

From the discussion on here I thought that was the end goal, and I really hope this "bulk editing tool" isn't the solution because I (and probably a lot of other Atom users) am/are still waiting for the original support request to be filled.

Thanks.

Strong buyer interest turned blank for me as well. No change in Landers time spent for many days. Got repeat visitor and price increase notification for one of my domains 10 days back. But the repeat visit suddenly disappeared.
I guess some update is still going on in the analytics part and probably some codes are missing ๐Ÿ˜„. We may have to wait or may be what we see npw is the real statistics ???

This is the search results page for both Atom and Brand Bucket , for a first time user it must be bamboozling to use Atom. So many buttons, distractions and lack of uniformity. It needs to be a lot cleaner. What do you think?

The new atom pay is here

1- still capped at $5k for credit cards for most sellers/buyers
2- Atom still states "Credit card payments carry an additional 2.9% processing fee"
3- Using Atom Pay for anything less than $555 will result in higher than 4.5% fees due to the $25 min
4- For installment plans (LTO), there's also an Installment Management Fee: the greater of $75/month or 0.01% of each monthly payment.
5- Trusted sellers previously had a $50k cap; @Atom.com is the trusted seller cap still $50k for credit cards? https://www.namepros.com/threads/at...merly-squadhelp.1120686/page-330#post-9399405

The good news is Premium costs have come down if you bring your own lead

"Now Only 4.5% Commission on Off-Platform Leads
Got your own buyer? Whether itโ€™s a Premium or Standard listing, you can close the deal through AtomPay for just 4.5% commission. Even if your standard commission rate is 30%, youโ€™ll only pay 4.5% when the lead comes from outside Atom."
