Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I've been at 61% pretty much the entirety of the time I've been at Atom and I only moved up to 65%, but they're alleging I have this dramatic of an increase all of a sudden

Show attachment 283373

The math doesn't math....

Also, what is all of this "new marketing" that is being claimed? I haven't seen any of it I'm aware of.

And the amount of lander visits would in theory stay proportionate to # of views over time which is not the case at all, so I can't help but have my doubts.

What seems more likely is they read all of the uproar from everyone when they started showing stats and weighing the exclusivity + price increases at other markets VS exposure from Atom, so they decided to pump up the numbers. It smells fishy

Edit: It's like shortlists all over again. If you left a domain name for X amount of time it would continue to add a few shortlists every X amount of time, to where you can tell that names that were added around the same time all had around the same number of shortlists, regardless of name quality. Even though the metric was BS and they claimed it was BS, it still was enough to keep people there and checking every day.

Thanks for the feedback. We would like to make one thing clear: no one at Atom is inflating or โ€œpumping upโ€ numbers. We understand why questions come up around stats, but accuracy and trust are very important to us.

Tracking visits with a full breakdown is extremely resource-intensive and requires significant infrastructure. Weโ€™ve said before that visits are not the best measure of portfolio performance, which is why we previously removed them. They were only reintroduced after ongoing seller feedback, and this time we invested in additional infrastructure to add more detailed breakdowns to make the data more useful.

At the same time, weโ€™ve been rolling out stronger bot-mitigation measures that reduce visits, not inflate them. The next phase of our advanced bot-mitigation algorithm goes live tomorrow, so visit counts will likely trend down as more non-human traffic is filtered out. Our philosophy is simple: any stats we share should be genuinely helpful and enable sellers to make better, more informed decisions about their portfolios.

@Atom ,thanks for the regular updates..

You have to remove the logged in seller own repeat visits in his own listed domains..If I visit 2 or 3 times in my own domain lander, now it shows as repeat visits from a potential visitor..

Hope that your upcoming update will filter it out also

We're all wondering about views and here this fellow deleted a name 30 days ago - but @Atom.com is still marketing and promoting it (and his dashboard shows it as still getting views). Meanwhile, they should be promoting names still on platform. Atom - a fix is needed when names are taken off platform - they shouldn't be marketed this long (I realize it takes a little time for retargeting to end - but 30 days?)

Hey @Atom.com - appreciate you working to better meaningful and correlative stats. Will be helpful for all!

In the interim, I see you show a "view" column on the new dashboard. Can you please make it sortable?

I have a question about time spent on landers. How do you define time spent? What does the visitor have to do to signal to the platform that they're still there. How is it implemented?

I ask because today I have a cumulative time spent on landers at 80m 57 with the top domain clocking in at 38+ minutes spent on the lander. What is there to do on the lander for 38 minutes? I've seen similar over the past weeks and months but nothing as high as 38 minutes.

Another page on the dashboard shows that particlar domain only had 2 visitors (repeat) yesterday from India. Did that domain get 38 minutes of lander viewing from that one visitor over 2 visits, from India?

Thanks!!

Lately, the silence has been deafening on Atom in terms of offers and buyer interaction.

I'm really starting to wonder if there is a problem with the "new" self-brokerage system. Usually, I'm getting a constant stream of offers, but I haven't received any notifications from Atom in a few weeks.

Very strange.

Question:
If a domain is registered at GD but pointed to Atomโ€™s nameservers and is listed as Premium, is it possible to also create a working subdomain like demo.domain.com pointing to my own hosting?

Others may have noticed this, but Atom now recognizes 'agentic' as a word (it was not in dictionaries, and in past was not recognized as word), which means your Plus domains in that single term are now eligible for inclusion in the Sapphire marketplace.

I wouldn't imagine so, as that would require tools that only your host would have.

This question pertains solely to DNS. After DNS delegation, the configured subdomain can be directed to any hosting provider you prefer. A dedicated A record for a hostname is also possible without delegation. The 'www' hostname is already active for every domain that has Atom.com nameservers configured. Likewise, in theory, any other hostname could be created and directed to a hosting service outside Atom.

However, and to answer @URL Stream's question: I don't think it's currently possible in Atom's Dashboard. Atom may technically, however, offer such bespoke DNS services to certain clients through manual DNS configs. But I'm not sure if they're doing this right now.

Currently, only MX and TXT record types can be configured from within the Atom Dashboard:

It depends on how youโ€™re planning to use the domain:
  • If itโ€™s for your own white-label marketplace (your domaining brand): you can switch to your registrarโ€™s nameservers. Then youโ€™ll be able to point the main domain to Atom with an A record and also create subdomains (like demo.domain.com) for your own hosting. The only thing you lose is Atomโ€™s Cloudflare setup โ€” but thatโ€™s not a big deal since Atom already blocks bots, and the caching part isnโ€™t very critical.
  • If itโ€™s a domain youโ€™re selling: then no, you canโ€™t create subdomains. Once the nameservers point to Atom, DNS is managed by them, and their system only supports TXT and MX records (not A records). So thereโ€™s no way to add subdomains in that case.
This is just from my own experience, so details might vary.

I just A record over my white label because I have too many custom entries email etc... I did hear Atom was supposed to expand on entries allowed so that way you could get under the Cloudflare settings instead of just an A record but no clue when those additional entries will be allowed. @Atom.com

A new path to discovery for overlooked domains

If youโ€™ve ever felt like your domains were buried โ€“ not because they werenโ€™t great, but because they were not matching the commonly searched keywords โ€“ this opens up a new path to discovery.

With deep personalization, discovery no longer depends solely on search. If a buyer is exploring names in your domainโ€™s neighborhood, whether itโ€™s pet wellness, logistics, AI tools, or anything else, your name has a much better chance of surfacing organically in their personalized storefront.

Itโ€™s like if Amazon rebuilt its homepage around your last three searches. Or if Spotify filled your Discover Weekly with music you didnโ€™t know you loved yet.

@Atom.com

I'm not seeing how this unburies names that the Atom algorithm chose to hide.

If the search is rigged not to show the name the first time around, why will it magically show up when that guest returns a second time?

Additionally, assuming that the visitor is still searching for the same keyword, in that case a cookie tracker is unnecessary since they will simply retype that keyword into the search bar, and if they aren't looking for the same results, then it's worse than unnecessary...

This algorithm definitely seems to be working, my traffic has suddenly reduced by 80-90%:

Apparently most of my visitors were bots.
