Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I receive multiple emails per domain regarding the latest premium approvals.

Atom.jpg

Some duplicates are identical in content, others have slightly different price ranges, like the one in my inbox screenshot.

On the other hand, emails with logo suggestions are missing for several of the premium accounts I've set up. Annoying!

Is this happening to everyone?

Same thing happened to me yesterday. 4 emails for the same approved name.

Is anyone else seeing a massive spike in traffic ONLY coming from within the platform? Seems to be trailing off today but still, no idea why.
The hausse in my portfolio views started on Saturday. Who said the sky is the limit? (Iยดd prefer a slightly similar sales curve though.)

Thanks, same... When I spot the views for any of my domains that have spiked, they do not add up to the top number. Dont understand the math, either.

The check boxes sitewide are almost invisible. This could be an issue for people with vision problems selecting domains, terms and captchas

You should check out the ones on DomainEasy - they're virtually invisible, especially when deleting domains.

Hello everyone - a quick update on recent spike in Discovery views across the platform:

This was primarily driven by a large burst marketing campaign we ran recently, which brought in a significant wave of traffic. While the surge was larger than expected, it also caused occasional timeouts or slowdowns that some of you may have experienced.

As a result, Discovery views spiked noticeably. Traffic should gradually normalize over the next few days, though you may continue to see some elevated activity as we run retargeting ads to recent visitors.

โš ๏ธ @Atom.com Critical issue: The Export to Google Sheets function is producing inaccurate data. Several domain names appear twice in the export, each time with both current and previous prices and descriptions. These duplicates inflate the count: the export currently lists 3,007 Plus domains, while my Atom Plus account contains only 2,968 (39 duplicates with conflicting info).

Please address this as a matter of urgency. I rely on these exports as a backup, so they must match my account data 100%. Establish the root cause of this, and review other areas to ensure data integrity is fully maintained on your systems.

Thanks for flagging the issue. The duplicates should no longer appear in the Google Sheets, but please let us know if you continue to see any problems.

So I just tried to use the Bulk Portfolio Editor

So I just tried to use the Bulk Portfolio Editor and I cannot find any way to "set Min Offer amounts at individual domain level", as there are only filters for very generic data points like Price, TLD, Listing Type, Sale Method, etc. and only six in total.

The editing of Minimum Offer amounts should be taking place under the My Domain Listings section, where you can individually assign Min Offers when the market changes or you are receiving too many offers at your current Min Bid setting.

@Atom.com

Thanks for the feedback - this has been shared with our product team.

In the meantime, you can still use the Bulk Editor to make changes to individual domains. Just click โ€œUpload Your Custom Listโ€, then paste your domain (or list of domains) into the text area. On the next screen, youโ€™ll be able to choose an action, such as setting a Minimum Offer amount, and apply it to the selected domain(s).

Hi @Atom.com,

Just tested, and unfortunately the issue has not been resolved.

What I'm seeing is this:

Row 1 & 2: Header Rows
Row 3 to 2963: All current Plus domains with current pricing and current descriptions
Row 2964 to 3205: empty rows
Row 3206 to 3244: duplicate Plus domains with old pricing and old descriptions

Apologies for the trouble. It appears that some previously generated Google Sheets still had residual data that wasnโ€™t fully cleared. Please try again and let us know if the issue persists.

If problems continue, feel free to contact our support team via chat - our engineering team will review your Google Sheet and help resolve it.

Two premium domains added yesterday to wholesale and not appearing on wholesale market search results !
As per atom support it takes 24 - 48 hours to show !! Why it needs that much time and not reflect immediately ??
Why you cant speed up this process ??
Also in this case you cancel any chance for domains expiring within two days to be sold !!

They are tightening premium approvals, even AI recommended names are getting rejected and taking longer to get reviewed, it used to be as fast as a few minutes, you're going to ruin my 3/4 acceptance rate.

Does having a high acceptance rate give any sort of advantage?

Nope. And it increases hope (and carrying costs). It's incumbent on sellers to ensure their names are worthy - not a marketplace.

Here's an example of the issue. Took this seller a while to figure out which brandables sell and which don't. And here's a tip; acceptance rates are not one of the qualifying stats

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of their premium listings will never sell.

I've also gained a lot of experience on brandables lately and my newer names are selling much faster than my old names from 2 to 5 years ago. Actually, I haven't sold any of my old premium listings yet.

Atom is a gamified platform that could definitely lead to false hopes to many (me included).

Same is true for the competitive platform. This doesn't mean they don't work. They do. They are able to sell brandables in a way the reg path marketplaces without search discovery can't.

However, domainers need to understand their business model is predicated on total STR. So they accept many brandables but only need a portion of them to sell to achieve their goals. Domainers see brandables selling, and see acceptance by the "experts" and think, great - my names will sell too! But that isn't exactly correct. They may. But more likely they will not. Most names never sell.

Domainers are the ones carrying the "risk" via acquisition and renewal costs. So it is incumbent on a domainer to ensure the name is worthy - and acceptance of the name is not the only qualifier. In fact, it is one of the lower qualifiers on that list.

Newer domainers get too excited when experts validate their investment by approving it.
Seasoned domainers know that validation is minimally important.

New domainers would do well to remember that even on standard industry-wide metrics, there is at least a 98% chance their domain won't sell in a given year (and almost certainly higher on a random made-up brandable). That begins to put things in perspective.
