Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I'm interested in this too.
It'd be most interesting to hear from @Atom.com about the efficacy of Plus & Sapphire (separately) vs Standard.

We obv do not expect either Plus or Sapphire to perform like Premium - but it'd be good to get some stats on these areas vs Standard.

Until we hear from Atom, at least we can gather anecdotal info from domainers.

I know of only one Plus sale from another domainer.
I just had my first Plus sale today ($2500-ish), and it was a name I'd moved to Atom Plus from Brandpa after that platform went full abandonware. It's not enough of a sample size to draw any hard conclusions, but it's definitely a good start.

Is your traffic being forwarded to Atom or somewhere else?

Do Atom Plus Listings ever get shortlisted? Or is it just Premiums and why?

Yes, just checked my downloads from yesterday and see 2 domains from my standard plus in addition to almost all of my premium names so (for me) its skewed toward the premium names...

Do Atom Plus Listings ever get shortlisted? Or is it just Premiums and why?

Plus listings receive retargeting ads and brokerage assistance. They do not receive much in the way of increased promotion. As such, they are not seen as often as Premium. Sapphire would be in the middle, seen more than Plus but less than Premium.

Therefore shortlists and views will be significantly lower than Premium and Sapphire due to the fact that they are not as findable on a platform with 300k+ names.

As for shortlists themselves, they are not correlative to sales and should be ignored "Based on our data, we do not see a direct or consistent correlation between shortlist counts and actual sales. Thatโ€™s because shortlists can come from many sources beyond serious buyers, such as creatives participating in naming contests, wholesale buyers, domainers researching trends, casual browsers, and even bots in some cases. These signals often donโ€™t reflect genuine purchase intent."

Can we submit plus listings to contests? Atom guide says yes, but in contests it only shows premium names to be submitted. Has anyone tried submitting their plus to contests?

Yes, you can. If you're able to accept NDA and read the contest details, you will be able to submit.

Depending on the domain, the system checks whether submission for each individual domain is allowed, and you will see the result immediately.

Considering the topic of contests just brought up, has anyone any experience with submitting their names to contests? Were any of your names chosen? If not, did you see an increase in traffic the exposure to the contest? (not sure if the submitted domain is publicly visible).

Last, if your name was chose / won, is the sale handled the same way as a regular purchase?

Bug report

In the Atom Dashboard, the sections on the right with "Smart Alerts" and "Platform Announcements" only show briefly, then disappear.

For me right now, when you make modifications to a description or keywords, and then press the Submit button it goes to submitting... as normal, except it never finishes submitting. Have tried logging in and out and switching to a different browser (Safari and Chrome), but always the same and the changes have not been input when next sign in. It was working fine yesterday for me. It does do other operations today, for example I had to approve a Premium listing, and then set it for Afternic listing, and both of those operations worked.

When appropriate, I have a number of times submitted one of my premium listings for a contest. I have not had a sale that way. I would not expect views difference to be noticeable. A few times the contest holder has given it a Like rating.

@Atom.com

Can confirm I'm having the same problem. I have been unable to submit updates for a couple of hours now.

The submitted domain name is hidden from public, so only you, CH, (and ATOM) know it. I don't see how it would get any traffic. most of the time, they donโ€™t even bother to visit the lander. They usually just rate entries from their dashboard.

However, if they do visit the lander, you'll get a notification that the CH has viewed the domain name you submitted.

At this moment, functionality has been restored.

At time of reporting the issue, Support also experienced the same, and passed it through to Tech.

I will inform Support that it's working again.
