Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

it could just be lowballers who don't want to pay your BIN.

But there IS a "Make an offer" on the Atom lander, so they could have done it there, rather than go through the trouble of doing it on GoDaddy. Which is why I'm wondering now if maybe buyers don't see that box.

The offer box is limited by the percentage you put in the settings. They might not be reaching the minimum offer.

It's a dollar amount, not a percentage. At least that's what it is in my account.

You can set a Minimum offer amount as a percentage of the selling price in the "make an offer threshold. You can also set a minimum dollar offer there for the entire portfolio.

For those of you who use the Make Offer feature, do you think moving the Make Offer box up so it's located together with the pricing info would be better or worse than where it's located now? Here's what I mean:

How do you get the Buy Now and Make an offer on the same domain? I thought it was one or the other.

You can do that within the "Marketplace Settings."

So are shortlists just some made-up thing? I don't see anywhere to "shortlist" domains when I'm browsing as a buyer. And I sure am getting a ton of them for it only showing 1 domain being found by search path + keyword in my dashboard.

I believe it's the heart on the lander.

You can shortlist names (especially easy to do from the wholesale marketplace). But these are not correlative to sales in any way (Atom confirmed this). Ignore them.

@Atom.com

Is there a way to use HTML in the domain descriptions to format the text properly?

It seemed logical to me that, despite what Atom have said about lack of correlation, that having someone take the act of placing that heart must mean something. But after your post, I am wondering if the vast majority of short lists are from those looking on Atom wholesale, or I had been thinking that those who enter contests that allow Premium submissions may be compiling a short list of names to consider submitting. In both cases they are unrelated directly to a retail sale, although may have some correlation loosely with name quality/desirability.

I was hoping there was some sort of correlation since every day I see 19, 20 names being shortlisted from the prior day. Which, what you said, Bob, makes sense: someone has gone to the effort to hit that little heart on 5% of my names per day. Would seem like a good thing.... Alas, no sales to report.. yet.

BTW, Is that shortlist number a running count per x-days perhaps or is it a total per [prior] day --- does anyone know?

It's cumulative. I don't know of a way to reset the counter.

Only reason that I didnt consider cumulative is because some days it can be 14 then 19 then back to 16 then 19... Its up and down but generally around 19-20 lately which is leading me to think it may be a running average?

Also, when I export a list of names I see a sum 327 shortlists between premium and standard listings since May 15, 2025 when I added my names which is why I am leaning toward a running average of some number of days.

I may experiment by downloading the files each day and seeing if there is a trend.

There is no correlation. If Atom parsed out domainer & wholesale shortlists from logged in end user shortlists perhaps ultimately there would be.

But Atom confirmed there is no correlation. https://www.namepros.com/threads/atom-atom-com-marketplace-formerly-squadhelp.1120686/post-7306038

Anyone who focuses on this metric as it is currently presented is likely to make pricing and renewal mistakes.

Thanks for your feedback—we hear you. The appeal review timeline has taken longer than we’d like, and we're actively working on ways to improve and speed up this process. Ensuring a timely and consistent review experience remains an important priority for us

@Atom.com appeals are now at 86 days and counting. It seems the efforts to speed up that process have yet to be implemented. Can you please review the backlog?
