Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

See a simple example of importance for the domain to be indexed . @NameGroove

If i decided to create a brand for my product/website/company etc .. And for whatever reason i decided to
call it ( extava ) .
Then i went to google to check this name is what about and showing what results , Is it bad or good , Odd or normal, Is it used before or no ? There is a similar to it or no , or or or ........

Then i will see the results as below , You can see how nice to see your own domain exposed to the eyes of potential interested person/buyer ๐Ÿ‘Œ

After seeing the google results, The interested person/buyer could go to his preferred registrar to see if he can buy it from there in case he is not comfortable with company/marketplace called atom , But at lease he saw it in google results and it took his attention .
The below example applied for most domains we own & listed for sale .

yes, it seems like that would be a good way to generate sales.

However, GoDaddy has told us it does not generate sales. I understand some of you think GD is misleading or didn't test properly. I tend to believe their findings, although, it would be nice for another platform to corroborate. I asked Atom, hopefully they respond.

If not, perhaps I can ask BrandBucket or Sedo.

No they didn't, GD said it didn't result in "meaningful" sales, which can translate a lot of different things, especially depending on the point of view. What's "meaningful" to GD might not be the same to you.

But you're definitely losing sales by not having your domains show up in Google search, that's an irrefutable fact.

It seems to me that whether indexing matters much probably would depend on the type of name, to some degree at least.

Let's think of a name that describes some product or service. If someone searches in quote marks it will be a huge number of listings anyway, and it probably makes no difference. Someone there probably is just going to try the name at a registrar, and see if listed.

Let's say though it is a creative made up brandable, maybe a creative spelling, a word merge, even a two word creative combination. Odds are no one will guess exactly the word the domain investor created, but now and then they must, and that is the best situation for selling.

If I came up with a creative name as a startup owner the first thing I would do is a Google search. If the name is associated with something well established or something unsavoury I probably would move to another name.

The best situation in that case is that there be not many hits, and nothing negative. Now if at the top of the list is a clear statement where the name is for sale, and it looks professional, like is done for Atom, BrandBucket, BrandPa and NamePros landers, among others,. that surely is helpful in at least some cases.

In the big scheme of all names sold at Sedo or Afternic does it matter much. Maybe not. But it must be one more tiny advantage for certain names.

that price seems too high for a misspelling. I mean someone can buy Girls for less. Makes no sense to me
I raised the issue with them before regarding their approved price. It went nowhere.

Did it actually go through the full manual review process by people at Atom or was it an AI approval?

It went through full approval process by people. And I appealed the price after.

Folks -

Domains submitted for Premium frequently feature in the "Strong Buyer Interest" overview during evaluation, and remain visible there for a long time. I suspect that reviewers might unknowingly exert considerable influence on this overview, potentially diminishing its objectivity and usefulness.

Perhaps @Atom.com could filter out some of that bias to enhance its value?

Is the AI approval really broken? I was just browsing the wholesale portfolio section. There are 4 portfolios totaling 350 domains. All Premium, all registered within the last couple weeks. 50 aren't even a week old. Most of them are only taken in one extension with a score of 5.

That could also be adverse selection, and/or the model of the domain reseller. There's apparently been a social media surge of hustle-bro content focused on using AI to find brandable handregs, and then flipping for 300-500. Selling a wholesale portfolio is gonna make a lot more sense for this model than for a 5-figure domain with a rating of 10.

Unfortunately, this keeps happening, even after the infrastructure upgrade @Atom.com mentioned a few days ago.

504 Gateway time-out

Thanks for your feedback. Our team is closely monitoring any server capacity-related issues and making ongoing adjustments. We believe the changes made over the last 72 hours have addressed the recent timeouts, but weโ€™ll continue to keep a close eye and fine-tune as needed.

Yes, but they were all Premium approved by Atom. So their AI somehow approved them, the reviews all 'jumped the line' ahead of other reviews, or they found some workaround to get them Premium approved. I checked a few of the domains on Google. I couldn't find anything that would even remotely indicate they should be Premium.

I don't profess to be an expert, but my approval rate on Atom is 74%.

@Atom.com In some retargeting ads, I'm seeing really old logos being used for the domains. Logos that are no longer active. Please use the most current logo for the domain.
We will certainly look into this. If you haven't done so already, please share some examples of old logos being shown in the retargeting ads, so that we can troubleshoot and correct the issue

Thanks for looking into it.

There was a related issue in the Offer Center, also showing old and inactive logos to Seller in the negotiation window. I've reported this, and it was resolved today.

@Atom.com This is still happening. An empty frame is shown without any Pricing info or Buy button. Could you please fix this?

When not clicking or scrolling, the Pricing info and Buy button will only appear after 8 seconds. What's happening? The contents of this block should show immediately. In your own words:

"Speed is more than a luxury; itโ€™s a dealbreaker. In a world of shrinking attention spans, users expect instant access. If your site drags, theyโ€™re gone."
Thanks for pointing this out. Weโ€™ve recently made changes to the underlying architecture related to how the pricing block loads, and you should no longer experience any delay. If youโ€™re still seeing it on specific domains, feel free to share examples and weโ€™ll take a closer look.
