Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Atom modified their Ai primary category. Used to be "Bots & Ai). Now its more appropriately

And "bots" have been changed to chatbots (very limiting imo). Bots are much more broad than just "chat". Hopefully they reword to just "bots".

Hi everyone,

Over the past few days, some of you may have noticed slower load times or occasional errors on our site. This was related to a recent infrastructure upgrade we implemented to handle increased demand. The issues should now be resolved, and weโ€™re continuing to monitor things closely. Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi @Atom,

I'm still encountering:
  • Landing pages not consistently displaying prices
  • Some names not resolving due to Atom DNS errors
It seems I'm not alone, as several others have reported similar problems.

The landing page error for published names is particularly concerning because it's likely that many potential buyers are also unable to see prices, which could significantly impact sales.

Thanks for looking into these.

Yeah, I'm getting more concerned, not less. It could be a "growing pains" issue for Atom, but it's us sellers that suffer while things get ironed out.

It's got to be pretty bad, as over the past few days, I am consistently getting Sedo, Afternic and WHOIS inquiries on my domains (all traffic forwarded to Atom), when in the past, it was 99% Atom.

I also feel there may be other problems unrelated to server issues, as the offers I recently received on Atom (over the last few weeks) never get buyer replies/counters and there is not even a notation that the buyer even viewed the negotiations. Very weird.

Thanks for the heads-up, I doubt I would have noticed.

In that category (the old Bots& AI) I have names listed that begin with "robo" and a few that end in "bots". None of them are even remotely related to chatbots...sheesh. Guess I'll head over there and find them a new home, likely somewhere in manufacturing/industry.

On another note, I put up about a dozen pretty mediocre standard listing names yesterday. This morning there is a thing on the dashboard saying that 1 domain was flagged for Premium Review. I click the link and there are 2 domains listed, asking me if I want to submit them. I have the coins so, WTH, click to send them to review. Then another notice pops up saying these names don't qualify for review, lol. But it did take the coins and put them in the queue .

Beginning to think Atom's AI is becoming psychotic.

Yea, exactly the same here... had my robot domains labeled into Bots & Ai. With the change to chatbots - that's no longer appropriate. They either need to reword chatbots back to generic bot or add another category (or categories) for bots and robots. @Atom.com bots much more widespread than "chatbots". There can be all sorts of bots... software, security, etc - not all of which chat. And of course Robotics which are in their own category

False Notification !!
All the 31 domains have logos, but NOT generated from the Ai logo generator of atom .
Seems atom system doesn't detect logos generated out of their ai generator !!
Please make sure it will not auto generate and replace the current logos that i designed from outsources .

@Atom.com

Noticed this a while back as well. Annoying since I keep double checking thinking I forgot to add a logo - but then you check and it has one. @Atom.com a fix is needed to recognize atom ai generated logos so we don't keep double checking names

.

@love4ever - I reported this to them over a week ago.

For awhile, the price tracker was taking precedence over pricing on mobile devices as well, which meant the first thing buyers would see was the price tracker and not the price.

Prior to this issue, I also reported the pricing block constantly failing to load, which meant buyers weren't able to see prices.

@Atom.com - If you're in the business of sales, pricing is pretty damn important and the ability to checkout even more so.

I'm just sayin'.

I checked mine, and on some domain names(not all), the price doesn't show, only 'Track Price' appears. But if I refresh the page, the price displays normally.

A buyer is not going to click on Refresh to see if a price appears.

It's things like this that are making me more concerned overall.

Over the past few days, Atom has claimed to have fixed the issue twice after independent reports. Apparently, that is still not the case, even after the unannounced infrastructure upgrade has been completed, so I would definitely report it again.

@Atom.com now that some considerations for premium are taking longer. have you considered making it possible for the owner who submitted a name for consideration to take it away from consideration if circumstances change in interim? BrandBucket allow this. It would seem to save your system time, and also to allow people to submit names for consideration while keeping them actively for sale elsewhere, since most of the time the names that take many weeks will ultimately be rejected anyway.

Update: It turns out this is possible. You just have to do it from the standard menu not the premium one. Thank you @DomainBanana .

Also, it seems that if a name had been approved for plus, and listed that way, but then the seller submits it for premium consideration, if the name does not get accepted for premium it goes back to standard, but I would have thought back to plus would be better.

Update: Maybe this is not true? I was sure some recent went back to Standard, and certainly the message says they return to Standard, but @Future Sensors indicates that they already return to Plus.

Thank you for consideration of these suggestions.

Bob

I'm not noticing the same with Plus domains that were rejected for Premium. They were added back to Plus.

But I agree, if it is the case for you, it's certainly something that can be investigated and improved.

This has been possible for several years -- just choose 'remove'

Strange, I'm not seeing exactly what you're seeing. But when selecting that menu from the "Standard & Plus Listings" section, it does say "Cancel Pending Review".

Yes, if you already added the name to Standard/Plus, then you'd have to cancel it from there; otherwise you can remove from the Pending Review list
