Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Been waiting on an appeal since April 15th. This was much stronger than my other domains which were approved premium in no time at all

Can "Installments" be set up on a per domain basis?

EDIT - Never mind, I think I just found it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, they can. Just click on the LTO tag under the domain's name.

Thanks, I found it. BUT the down payment part doesn't work. The installments seem to work, but the down payment I entered is nowhere to be found.

I believe the down payment will be shown to a potential buyer when they check out using LTO. You can also use a percentage in your marketplace settings to do this for all domains.

Not working. I checked with Support and they agreed, it's not working. I often find little bugs on Atom that make it uncomfortable to do bulk changes since I don't know if all domains are working the way I wanted.

I have a feeling they have shortened the leash on ai reviews and are putting more focus on internal review ATM , I guess until Ai can improve its hit rate. Expect delays on the review times we have come to expect.

Appeal? If you really mean appeal - you'll be waiting a while. They caught up recently, and if history is any guide, they let it get to 90+ days before cycling back through all the appeals again. While I'd like to hope they wouldn't let it go past 30 days going forward, based on the current slow approval times for new names - I'm not optimistic.

Is the "Down Payment" option working for anyone? If you have a name on Installments (12 months, for example) then add a Down Payment amount, does it work? Does it show up on the landing page? I can't get it to work for any of my names. In my case it shows the option to Pay in Installments, but the down payment part is nowhere to be found.

I have not had a recent experience, but last fall I had an LTO start at Atom and the down payment worked. I got the downpayment and first instalment from the buyer to start.

I think (and I find this confusing to buyers) they never show in the initial landing page, but when the buyer selects to pay by LTO the terms appear on that page.

Thanks Bob. In this case it doesn't show up anywhere in the buying process. It DOES show up on the back end when I mouse-over the amount of months (so the system knows about it) but the buyer never sees it, they never know about it.

The down-payment and further monthly payments should be clearly spelled out on the landing page.

I agree. I hope they do this.

I was just pointing out I think it has been this way for some time, but the down payment you set is in the system and charged. But totally agree clarity for end user needs improvement.

Yep. For some reason down-payments are not working at all for my names. Support says they are trying to figure out what the problem is. I don't like having LTO without a higher down payment... so I hope they figure it out soon.

By the way, I don't think Atom cares about clarity. I mean that sincerely. I've pointed out multiple things that could use more clarity but all they say is "I will share your feedback with our team." Since nothing ever changes I have to assume they don't care.

Hard to believe this isn't in the buying flow somewhere. As Bob mentioned, he received the downpayment, so somewhere someplace the buyer must see it (since they're paying it).

@Atom.com where in the buying flow is the downpayment shown?
