Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

That's a shame. Would love a reply from Atom, but appears they glossed over this issue but answered others. I was considering trying out Atom for some of my domains but if it can't get the logos right, I probably won't bother for now.

Apologies for missing your earlier thread. While the AI logo generation has improved significantly, there are still some limitations in the underlying models—particularly in certain cases where it may generate an icon without incorporating the full domain text.

In most cases, regenerating the logo once or twice resolves the issue. However, for a small subset of domains, it may take a few more attempts. This is not very common, and the majority of domains now generate clean logos on the first try.

We appreciate your patience and are continuing to improve the experience with each update.

@Atom.com Is there a delay in activating Domain Talk on the external landers for Plus listings? Domain Talk is present when visited on www.atom.com/name/{domain} (internal marketplace) but not present on domains.atom.com/lpd/name/{domain} (external Plus lander after redirect). For Premium listings it shows on both immediately (internal and external lander).
There was a small glitch affecting Domain Talk visibility on external (standard/ Plus) landers, which has now been resolved. If you're still not seeing Domain Talk on the external lander, we recommend clearing the cache from the Listings section for the domain. That should refresh the lander and resolve the issue.

The Domain Talk section is visible on my external Plus landers now, as well. Thanks.

I think this affects short domains, if I remember well, I had the same issue..

Confused me for a second, as this link doesn't work unless you're logged in.

I guess I'm a NOMETAL as I only use Standard Listings.
50 Premium domains give you Silver status.
100 is Gold, and 500 is Platinum.

“If it can't get the logos right” — just to put things in perspective, Atom has over 300,000 premium names with professional logos, and their design quality has continually improved over the years.

The AI designs are still being perfected, but you can always revert to a human designer if there's a problem.

It's also worth noting that NamePros isn’t one of their official support channels. If your concern didn’t get a reply here, it’s not a reflection on their responsiveness. For support issues, you'd be much better off contacting their support team via chat or email — they're helpful.

It should be; many of their clients consider Namepros home. Many of the major marketplaces have a dedicated forum here.

I'm Gold and only received 50 audio credits

Also @Atom.com The benefit of "early access to New Wholesale Listings" has been coming soon for over a year. Is this benefit still on the radar?

I don't think it has anything to do with your status and relates more to your recent sales and overall account activity.

Buyer went through customer service to make an offer and now not responding.

@Atom.com

I was wondering if something can be done about the process of communicating Sales Acceptance using Escrow.com.

Currently, if a buyer accepts an offer or BIN and then chooses to use Escrow.com, there is no indication on the system that the domain has been sold, and it can take several days for the Escrow.com payment to process before the seller is actually notified of both the sale and payment.

I ran into this when (after my Offer expired) I asked a buyer if he/she was still interested and the reply was that the domain was purchased and paid via escrow.com two days ago. A few days later I was advised by Atom of the sale and payment, and that I needed to supply a transfer code, right out of the blue.

This can cause two major issues:

1) You could sell this domain to someone else or somewhere else and then suddenly be presented with a 'delayed sale' (that you can no longer fulfill) out of nowhere.

2) You may disregard or even continue negotiations with the buyer, never realizing that the domain has already been sold. Due to this one, I am VERY careful when communicating with buyers and either wait a few days or inquire with them, before sending a counter.

Hopefully, there can be an update to the Atom system whereby these Escrow.com transactions can be properly communicated to the seller upon acceptance.

Yup, seems you are correct. CS said "Our product team is still in early testing, this has not been fully determined at this point.". "This" refers to audio credit amounts by level.

Domain validation is too slow. Among all the domain markets I have used, Atom's validation is the slowest

You should try sedo then :tightlyclosedeyes:

Thanks for your feedback—we completely understand where you're coming from.

The challenge is that a large percentage of transactions initiated/accepted through the Escrow.com integration don’t result in completed sales. Since there’s no upfront payment or fee collected, many buyers begin the process without fully committing. Some even go as far as verifying their Escrow account or claiming they've sent funds, but ultimately turn out to be non-serious.

We typically follow up with these buyers to better understand their intent, and we see few common patterns:
  • Some buyers land on the domain through old backlinks, expired brand mentions, or outdated bookmarks, and mistakenly assume they’re purchasing a product or service that previously existed on the site before the domain expired
  • Others arrive via Google organic search, where our landers often rank well for brand or domain-related keywords. While this visibility is great for exposure, it also brings in a significant amount of non-purchase-intent traffic, including users who are just browsing or unaware they’re on a domain marketplace.
  • In addition, our marketing ads that promote domains bring in a steady flow of buyer traffic—however, not all of that traffic is from serious or ready-to-purchase buyers. Some may engage out of curiosity without following through.
Automatically marking a domain as “sold” or notifying sellers of a pending sale too early can lead to confusion or false expectations. It could also restrict sellers from accepting other legitimate offers while a non-serious buyer stalls the process.

That said, we’ll continue exploring ways to improve this process and ensure sellers receive more timely and accurate updates when genuine buyer intent is confirmed via the Escrow.com integration.
