Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

We should have the option to disable Domain Talk. I’ve been waiting for them to fix Domain Talk on a domain for four days now. Instead, I would prefer to turn it off and turn it back on once it’s fixed.

That was pretty good. The voice was nice, and I liked the switching from the domain name, to the photo, and back again. I did not time it, but I thought it was just a little bit too long (maybe 5-10 seconds too long). Near the end I was like "how long is this going to go?"

NOTE: But that could be I was there just checking out the feature -- if I'm an actual end-user maybe the duration was just fine...

I really don't like how they built in "um" and "heck" and other things like this to make the Ai sound human. True human orators know not to speak like this and are trained to not do it.

they said you can ask chat to disable it on any domain (individually). I understand you want a global option (and I agree) but at least it can be done til it's improved

There is nothing in the Custom Lander Settings for this?

If so, yeesh - as a bystander with no dog in this fight, I'm not a big fan of the current iteration.

Contacted with chat 2 times to disable it, seems like it's not possible at the moment and they're still waiting for a reply from the related team.

As already reported by others, the number of registered TLDs is currently wrong for a lot of domains. Not only in the "Domain Appraisal" section for a single domain, but also in the main portfolio overview of Premium and Standard/Plus domains.

After clicking through to an individual appraisal for a domain, the number of registered TLDs is erroneously decremented to "1" for many domains. Checking with other tools like dotDB shows that the info is indeed inaccurate.

To what extent does this bug influence ranking within the marketplace, as part of the algo?

@Atom.com Please have a look at this, and fix. Thank you.

Did everyone know while we are allowed to cross post Atom Premium names on Afternic, we are only allowed to list as BIN and not LTO?

I just learned this today.

Is there any specific reason for it @Atom.com ? Darpan has shown LTO lifts STR - and disallowing it for our Afternic listings, reduces our STR. Probably by a good amount for higher priced names.

Not sure how it matters since you're allowing us to sell on AN anyway. How would a LTO sale differ from a BIN one (to you)?

For those of you who want "domain talk" on your names, you can enable it once they issue audio credits (likely coming soon)

Beat me to it.

If we're going to have to pay for this, there should be a free option which just pronounces the domain like how we have had, so all names at least have an audio feature. We're getting very inconsistent with the landing pages, some use LTO, some don't, some have down payments while others don't, some are minimal landers... etc...

If I were an end user browsing names, I'd be thrown off by the inconsistency.

https://www.atom.com/blog/introducing-domain-talk-let-your-domain-speak/

Starting this week, we’re rolling out Domain Talk Credits to sellers. You’ll be able to generate lifelike audio stories for any of your domains directly from your Atom dashboard.

Once credits have been added to your account, you will be notified via email along with instructions on how to generate the audio stories for your domains. These credits are part of our early testing. Once we work out any remaining kinks, we plan to offer additional options for sellers to access and use Domain Talk at scale.

I don't know to what extent Domain Talk already takes into account the Description fields. In some cases, these Descriptions already tell in great detail, and professionally, how the domain can be used (and without lighthouses). My suggestion is therefore to have Domain Talk take much more account of well-structured descriptions for these domains, especially in case these Descriptions are more advanced than the standard AI-generated paragraph provided by Atom.

Another question: from now on, will Domain Talk only appear if the Seller manually requests this with audio points, or will Atom continue to add Domain Talk independently to selected domains?

I didn't know it, but I felt that offering LTO on AN didn't actually fit in the ATOM narrative. That's one more reason I have added just a fraction of my names as Premium on ATOM.
I use ATOM in addition to Afternic which already delivers. But if I feel my Afternic results are affected in any way, I will leave ATOM without second thought.

I suggested this a few months ago. Wonder if they actually considered it? @Atom.com

Domain Talk Credits, Image Credits, Points, Coins...

...Premium Listings, Standard Listings, Plus Listings...

...Ultra-premium marketplace, Premium marketplace, Standard marketplace, Sapphire marketplace, CCTLD marketplace...

I love how much energy goes into building these features, but as a user, I sometimes get lost in the different currencies, listing types, and marketplaces. It might be worth simplifying the structure to make things more intuitive—and to help users focus on what really matters: buying and selling great domains.

If Atom's open to feedback, I'd recommend simplifying to:
  • 1 unified currency (e.g., Atom Credits) -- instead of multiple types like Domain Talk Credits, Image Credits, Coins, Points, etc.
  • 2 clear listing tiers: Standard (basic) and Premium (curated).
  • 3 marketplace categories: Standard, Premium, and Collections (like Ultra-premium / Sapphire / CCTLDs).

I was using the AI tool to make logos but for some domains it just won't generate any text - it only gives me an image. I tried several ways but ends up the same, and I had to use a credit each time. I remember hearing there was a way to redo it again for free but didn't see any sort of option for it. Any tips?

Having the same issue and posted about it a few days ago

Atom hasn't responded to that post (yet) and there is no fix (or free way). You simply have to retry over and over.

Back in Oct 2024 Atom added .now to its supported list for Premium curation. This extension recently garnered a new end user (I assume via hand registration).

They rebranded from Anywhere "365" to Anywhere "Now" and use the exact match Anywhere.now TLD. Thanks once again for being at the forefront of innovation @Atom.com!

As more companies rebrand, I'd expect interest in the Premium & Sapphire .now listings to increase.

You can see their Press Release here:

@Atom I believe the text Number of times your domains were shortlisted by prospective buyers should be changed to Number of times your domains were shortlisted by prospective buyers, contest creatives, logo developers and fellow Atom domainers.

Thanks for your feedback! We're currently working on a new iteration of the dashboard focused on simplification and highlighting more actionable metrics.

Based on our analysis, the absolute number of shortlists doesn't show a strong correlation with actual sales. Instead, metrics like repeat domain views are more reliable indicators of genuine buyer interest. The updated dashboard will prioritize these more insightful signals to help sellers better understand buyer engagement and identify meaningful opportunities.

Thank you, I encourage Atom to given sellers recent data in addition to lifetime. Recent repeat domain views are helpful while older repeat views have no value after weeks, months and years have passed.

Also, PLEASE filter out traffic from Atom creatives, logo designers and sellers from your stats. Including those definitely skews data in a less than helpful way.
