Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Terms state Standard and Plus. Please kindly clarify, @Atom.com
That's right—there’s no exclusivity requirement for Standard or Plus listings. You’re free to list them on other platforms, set any price you like, and remove them from Atom whenever you want.

I'd focus on simplicity... something like the above.

Removes non-essential elements like the audio story, buyer interest badge, and extra visual icons that can distract from the main goal. Simplifies to focus on what matters most: the domain name, clear pricing options, one strong call-to-action, and a few key trust signals.

This reduces cognitive load, makes the path to purchase more intuitive, and creates a cleaner, more modern feel that’s easier to process at a glance. The result is a page that feels faster, more focused, and more trustworthy.

this looks just like the old Dan style landers (which I loved). That said, Atom shouldn't roll out anything without testing (and I know they won't as they've said many times - a good thing!).

They should (and do) test all sorts of things, including stripped down landers vs current and see what happens to STR. We all want the same thing, higher STR. And you'd be stunned at what sorts of things lift STR (I used to work in direct marketing and tested just these sorts of things). A simple button color change sometimes lifted conversions dramatically

I think the real problem with Atom and other markets is that, the more domains it gets the less sales we have!

I would rephrase that. The more domains it gets, the less sales the crappy domains have. Good domains sell. Even in a field of a capped # of buyers - Atom is only a very small slice of a giant pie. Atom affords these buyers the opportunity to sift through crapola and buy better names. Now a buyer may pick up a quality name at Atom, rather than a subpar name via GD reg path.

For example, I am a relatively new seller. I sold domains via Atom. Someone else now lost those sales (to your point). But buyers obv found my names higher quality than these others that were on platform (before I arrived). My names weren't new. They were old regs that sat on Afternic and didn't sell cause they were never found. Atom gave a platform and a search feature for buyers to find them. And they sold. Would buyers have bought "worse" names from another Atom seller? Possibly. Or perhaps they'd have bought from Afternic or Sedo, or some domain broker. Atom allows discovery. Afternic does not. Sedo does, but it's a bit player. New entrants such as DNX and DomDB also allow aftermarket discovery. This will allow the better names to sell and the worse to sit. If your STR drops to 0% as the platform size grows, buyers are telling you what sorts of names you have.

Unless/until @Atom.com shows stats showing Popularity correlates with STR I wouldn't worry about it. Almost all of the dashboard stats they show us are gamified stats. Like all social media, they make us participate in an addicted fashion to engage - but at the end of the day, all the matters is STR. I optimize my portfolio towards the stats they have shown to correlate with STR

I'm putting together a blog post showing these correlations, will share once approved by NP

Here's the blog post. Thanks to Darpan and Atom for sharing their platform insights. It's truly special to see an open platform that shares their learnings with the community.

Enjoy

Considering the current landing page as a whole, it now seems overly complicated, not easy for buyers to parse.

In my view, reducing the number of visual and interactive elements on a domain sales page is essential for enhancing clarity, easing navigation, and minimizing cognitive load. When a buyer lands on the page, their attention should be guided—quickly and effortlessly—toward one key action: buy the domain.

Too many competing elements (buttons, badges, prices, icons, prompts) can overwhelm and confuse users, delay decision-making, or cause hesitation. By streamlining the layout to include only the most essential components above the fold—clear pricing, a single call to action, core trust signals, and concise support options—you create a focused, intuitive path to purchase.

This not only improves comprehension and user satisfaction but also increases conversion likelihood by removing friction from the buying experience.

Clarity sells.
Missed a spot.

Do you see any correlation between shortlists and sales? Like 1 sale every 500 shortlists.

For my portfolio (which is about average) I get about 2000 shortlists per sale based on 5 years on Atom.

I've had 10 sales and 20,000 shortlists. Portfolio size has grown from 20 domains up to 250 in that time.

Now, I get about 30-40 Shortlists per day, which comes out to about a sale every 50 days. This is in line with my sale through rate of 2.72% with a 250~ domain portfolio.

That said, I've recently gone 5 mo without a sale and no sale so far in 2025, so statistics only mean so much. But law of averages evens out because last year I had 2 sales in a month and 3 sales within 2 months.

I reported a bug with Domain Talk. It referred to my domain as a "Domain TLD" (without even mentioning the dot). Checked other domain that has Domain Talk and it says it properly.

Check your listings with Domain Talk and report it.

I have a high correlation between a new and valid shortlist and receiving an offer, but sales are far more random.

In addition, a lot of these "shortlists" are system errors or bots, as my shortlist counter on ONE DOMAIN went up by almost 1600 in less than ONE hour. Just not possible.

I don't even worry about this stuff, as there is only one metric I'm interested in, and that's SALES!

If a domain was previously listed by another member, Likes are inherited when the domain is relisted. Perhaps this is the case for your domain.

I got the notice, as others have, that one of my Atom Premium names now has Domain Talk, a short (few minute) audio promotion of the name. When I first heard of this idea, I was not that enthusiastic. I must say, the one they created for my domain name impressed me. I am not sure if they are AI produced, I expect so, but it certainly sounds authentic - even has an 'um' at one place. The language is compelling and the voice expressive.

I am not sure how many potential clients will bother to listen to these but if they do it will have an impact, I think.

It will be interesting to see if there is an impact on sales after it has had long enough to run.

Would be nice to be able to request or suggest specific names to get one of the Domain Talk clips.

I would like to see on the Premium listing pages an AI Suggested Price that updates depending on market conditions. Perhaps you can charge for credits. For instance, it can use metrics like Root word STR, Past sales data, Domain score and other factors to give a more accurate Price for maximum STR and value.

I'd really like this to happen soon before I have to load up the data into AI myself.

ChatGPT Plus image generation creates better logos.

@Atom.com any plan to allow verified sellers to add their own logos?
