Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I find the whole Atom system is really slowing down. I used to run Verify Domains and it would maybe take 10-15 minutes and display constant updates, but now it can take upwards of a day to finish and there is no "XX domains unverified verified" counter shown on the screen.

I have a feeling they're either performing work on the system, or a few serious domain investors are loading their portfolios onto Atom this weekend.
yes, definitely something going on at the backend, one of domains took almost 2 days to get verified and that too with atom NS added.
5 pending verification for almost a day now

Yep, I put 8 through verification on Saturday and it easily took a day to complete. And no unverified counter.

When I first loaded ALL my domains on Atom for verification last Tuesday, I could watch the unverified counter and refresh to see how much longer it was. The unverified number would constantly update, and the whole lot took maybe 25-30 minutes to process.

Same here. I think @Atom.com is aware. this notice is appearing for all - and has been for some time

I always verify my names one by one as I would run into the same issue. Doing it individually doesn't seem to have any delays apart from clicking on a few extra buttons.

From a retail buyer perspective is there anyway they can filter domains by domain rating score?

Atom allows all their listings to be on Afternic - and this is why it's good. In fact, I never would've started with Atom if I couldn't list concurrently on AN. Some corporate buyers are mandated to buy via GoDaddy/AN. Others do it out of trust. You simply can't lose those that are forced in that direction. I still like Atom - but I need choice for the buyer. @DomainRecap - this is why it isn't 0% (I know, doesn't mean NS couldn't be 0%). But some names lend themselves to different marketplaces.
All its listings? I have many names but they only tell me less than 40 names are eligible for Afternic. It is always good to list in Afternic, however, I am now sure how much using their NS would make a difference when it comes to closing sales.

I think I'm going to do that too, as my set of verified domains from yesterday is still running.

The system used to be pretty fast, up until around Friday.

Maybe not, but with BINs, having your NS at Afternic sure does lower the commission levels when you're dealing with immediate sales.

Yeah, they told me to oay 30% the other day as the name did not have any of their approved NS.

I decided to list the names there but not to use their landinf pages.

In 5 days at Atom, I already have two very nice sales.
Hi

can you say what the commission % is/was for those and were they BIN or negotiated/make offer?
Tks

also...
Congrats on the sales!

imo...

Man, this 'Domain Verification Delay' has really tossed a monkey wrench into my day, as I was planning on adding a few more domains to Atom at lunch, but I don't want to do anything before yesterday's are verified and the nameservers changed to Atom.

My payments are still verifying as well. I thought they were done when I got the Transfer Code emails, but apparently there is an "additional verification of the payment" needed before I can send it. ๐Ÿ˜ข

I just hope that my '2 sales in 5 days at Atom' hasn't put me on a 'potential fraudster list', when it's just due to me being held hostage at Afternic.

Hi

GD automatically added BOOST to all users accounts,
so you have to "opt out", to save 5% and be charged 25% when not using their NS.

imo....
Thanks, but I was under the impression that boost will increase expossure of the names, so that is why I didnt turn it off.

They're going to do a black friday like sale again on 03/13.

Show attachment 271613

Setting to opt-in or opt-out here: https://www.atom.com/marketplace/settings/selling

I opted-out of this one. Atom supplied no data from their BF sale and I saw no lift in views or shortlists during that time. No sales either (but I'm not the largest seller, so that isn't unexpected). My names are priced fairly - no need to add 25% to them on top of Atom's 30%, unless they publish stats.

So there's a possibility of a double discount. The automatic random 10% discount and this special event discount. A handful of my domains have a strong buy interest. I'll participate just to see if those with strong buy interest are serious buyers.

This is an opportunity to see if ATOM's metrics lead towards a sales conversion.

Wow, this slowdown to Atom's "Verify Domains" function has reached epic levels.

It's been over a day and a half and the system has only processed ONE of my 204 domains I sent to verify. Not sure I'll still own some of these domains by the time they finally finish processing in a year or so.

Anyone planning to verify domains at Atom, definitely select each domain individually to verify, and DO NOT hit the "Verify Now" button.

This happened with some of my domains recently and the problem seems to be when we update the DNS records bulk.
Try updating the same dns record again manually to just few domains and check once if its getting verified fast.
If then the problem is with the bulk dns record update.
Just a check
