Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I continue having issues with the Down Payment amount. I have 15% set but I keep finding names that show 20% down payment. Atom support is trying to figure out what's wrong. Anyone else come across this issue?

This is not the first time I've found problems with random names (but not all of them). Makes it hard for me to trust that Atom is showing the correct info across the board on every name. And it's too time consuming to check each and every name to make sure everything on the page is correct.

I'm having issue with discounts. I have set no discounts on any names - yet Atom is showing discounts on my names. It's been reported and not fixed.

Although seemingly unrelated issues - they are having some sort of buggy problem with settings (the fact that we set things and they don't carry through). Hopefully they can get a fix in place asap.

It's concerning to me. I need to trust the system I'm using, not worry about which of my domains are displaying incorrect information.

Truth is I don't think they actually *know* what the problem is. Which means they can't actually fix it. Which is ALSO concerning.

Thanks for your feedback. We’ve now increased the credit card thresholds for Standard and Plus listings when the seller is a Trusted Seller. In those cases, the limits now match those of Premium listings.

Now that's a good decision.

This is what I like about @Atom.com - whenever there is a notable problem or challenge, they usually make the right call.

But what about us lowly NON-Trusted Sellers? 😀

Thanks for listening to my idea. And that is excellent news for both buyers and sellers alike!

That was good work outlining this, as I had no idea there was such a low limit, and the Trusted Seller option is a nice concession by Atom.

Quick update: All WLM landing pages have now been upgraded and include the latest features - including minimal landers, Track Price, and the updated UX.

To see the changes live, you may need to clear the WLM cache from your dashboard.
That's great news!! Thanks for the update 👍👍

@Atom.com

A feature that would be really useful to me personally would be to allow the Minimum Bid to be adjusted on a per-domain basis. A default number is fine for the majority of domains, but on premiums it would be really nice to be able to adjust it higher. Or drop it lower for some crap you'd like to see some action on.

Thanks.

Ha! Thanks! 😀 Does it say anywhere that you are a Trusted Seller? Is it on the landing page somewhere?
It's in a yellow bar near the top of your dashboard. Not sure if it's anywhere else.

"Since you are a trusted seller, you can skip domain ownership verification for your domains"

I am testing the "price request" and "make offer" methods from the end user's perspective. Although I made PR/MO requests via 3 different email addresses (Gmail, Outlook and company mail) no notifications were sent to my Atom account regarding these requests.

Similarly, only the verification code was sent regarding the PR/MO requests made to the pseudo buyer side. There is no subsequent notification that the requests were created.

Technically, since the requests do not appear in the transfer center, I cannot reach the buyer and potential leads are lost in the dark void of space.

It would be great if someone else wants to test this issue on their side.

Gotcha. Thanks. I thought maybe there was a "badge" that appeared on your landing pages, for buyers to see.

@Atom.com. I do admire many aspects of your marketplace, but why do your ads on Google state that you are the only curated marketplace? Are you not aware of your biggest (and much older) competitor? It seems like misleading, and not very fair, advertising.

IMO its OK let them use any possible legal marketing ways to attract customers ( buyers ) , We can recognize they are doing their best efforts to develop their marketplace, And at least and most important they are neutral ( fair ) towards buyers and sellers ( domainers ) . BUT the other bigger/older competitors are greedy and playing dirty games against sellers ( domainers ) in order to maximize their profit and kick others !

Don't think the minimal pages are 100% on the white label.
Custom phone number and email don't seem to carry over.

Worse than that if your showing the entire atom catalog bad enough ya have atom on your white label but now I'm seeing random logos for other white labels on mine so I've got my domain, atom and various white label logos on mine=brand confusion.
