Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I have tried to submit a couple made up names and an existing domain. Now they are not "in review", but not listed either. Do they show that the name was rejected anywhere, or you have to conclude it yourself somehow?

You can goto my Marketplace listing and scroll inside the status and choose rejected .

@GrantP

"STRONG BUYER INTEREST: At least 6 potential buyers viewed or shortlisted this domain recently"

1. My interest lies in "potential buyers viewed" how do you determine this?

2.From my dashboard, I can see contest likes. How do I know which of my name got these likes? (I did not participate in any contest)

Btw, my frustration has greatly reduced, I am beginning to get a hang of the process. As at my last rant(April 28th), I had 8 names, now I have 38names. Though there are still few shockers, as to why a particular name was rejected.

I have submitted 200+ domains over the past 2 months to their Premium program and have had a reasonable acceptance rate: 18.4 %

The reason I selected Premium when submitting is each marketplace deals directly with end user buyers and they have an unique insight to what sells and what doesn't with their platform

Additionally, I personally like curated processes as it cuts down on bulk pigeon shi* uploading and flooding of a marketplace.

ps: If anyone is interesting is reviewing my recently accepted Premium names or is interested in acquiring a few Premium domains for their SH inventory, shoot me a DM and let's chat.

I have noticed that one of my domains got such a great exposure in a short time and I don't know how and why? I have listed it about 15 days ago and now it has 10 times more views than most of my other domains :)

I keep getting an error saying that my domain has been submitted already. I own the name and I'm not sure what's happening. I'm new to SquadHelp btw. Maybe @GrantP can help?

Thanks!

It probably means it was rejected but best to contact support in the blue box.

I thought it was the case that you could submit someone elses domains that are listed in the marketplace. But it seems it is not. (thanks for the heads up @JimJammy )

@GrantP I too would like to understand better why the following two instances can occur:
1) Submitting a name I own to a contest and the system says that the name has been submitted already
2) Contest Likes - when you have not submitted your own names to contests

Does SH recommend Premium names (on behalf of domain owners) to Contest Holders automatically when they start a contest?

"STRONG BUYER INTEREST: At least 6 potential buyers viewed or shortlisted this domain recently"

1. My interest lies in "potential buyers viewed" how do you determine this?

The strong buyer interest message is calculated based upon recent level of interest received from potential buyers. Our platform uses several signals to determine this level of interest (such as the original referring source of the buyer, how often have they been on the site, their other interactions with our website). Unfortunately we do not disclose the exact algorithm.

I keep getting an error saying that my domain has been submitted already. I own the name and I'm not sure what's happening. I'm new to SquadHelp btw. Maybe @GrantP can help?

At this point you are not allowed to submit an unregistered domain to the Marketplace if it was already submitted by someone else in the past (even if it was rejected).

If you own the domain and are seeing this error, you can contact our team by clicking the blue button and we can investigate it further.

If you own a domain and are not able to enter it to a contest, it is possible someone else submitted the same with a different tld. We are working on additional changes that will allow submission of a name to a contest as long as you own it (even if someone submitted the same name with a different tld). In the meantime, please report such issues to the support team so we can look into the specific situation.

Many people have asked about Contest Likes, especially when they haven't submitted the name to contests. There are three ways in which this can happen:

1. Our platform automatically recommends certain names to contest holders based upon AI technology which takes into account their industry and the styles of other names they are liking. A contest holder has the ability to like such names and even import them to their contest as an entry.

2. If the contest is being assisted by our branding team (Managed Contests), our branding team goes through relevant names from the marketplace and recommends them to the contest holders.

3. If the same name was submitted by another creative to contests in the recent past (because it was unregistered) and it received likes, you will see those likes as well in your dashboard. This is shared so that you can get a better picture of how often that name is being liked by potential buyers/ contest holders.

I want to post a warning for all members that enter contests at SH.

I am very sure someone who works for SH is watching contests and poaching

good domain name submissions.

This has happened several times and the names always wind up for sale on SH.

Several good names that I entered but did not get around to regging have been taken.

These are very uncommon names.

Of course there is the possibility that someone came up with them and regged them,

but they all seem to end up for sale on SH within a day or two of my entering them!!!!!!!!!

What are the odds?

If they are for sale at SH it is probably not the contest holders.

That only leaves SH employees who, I am sure, have complete access to all the

names submitted to contests.

If it is not SH employee directly, then the names are being given to a friend

outside the platform to reg and the proceeds are split between the SH employee

and the friend.

This has happened way to many times to be a coincidence!!!!!

From now on I am going to reg good names right away, before entering them

in a contest.

This is serious BS!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, if you report a domain registration to SH using their process they either

never get back to you or they tell you they found no wrongdoing.

Their way of checking is to merely "ask" the contest holder if they regged the name.

When they say no - of course they are going to say no - then the case is closed, end of story.

They want you to believe they have your back when it comes to protecting your domain submissions,

but this is BS too.

@Cdomains -

What you have outlined is a serious accusation and a concerning one at that.

Please provide in this thread a list of the names you feel were poached along with screen shots from your contest entries that show the Entry Date(s).

Patterns are easy to detect. And if a contest holder (CH) is an active SH seller that is abusing the system, it might be possible to detect the pattern and share it with SH management.

Thanks,

-Cougar

I would say it is far more likely that a SH seller is gaming the system by opening different contest holder accounts in order to hand reg the gems.

@GrantP

Could we get an update on what is going on with the domain submission review times now?
Is the change from daily reviews to once every couple of days a permanent or temporary thing?

Is there no option to cancel "wholesale prices" ?

There should be.

Please add the option.

Thanks

Yes you just hit change wholesale price and you remove the price

I have been entering the contests and never enter any unregistered names that I personally want. If I want them I register immediately. One thing I noticed is it tells you if a similar name has been submitted and doesnโ€™t allow you to submit that one. If enough people get that they might just go ahead and register it since itโ€™s not eligible for that contest.

We all get the same brief and same ideas are likely. Many domains are registered every dayโ€” you snooze you lose.

This is however a strong accusation you have made and I am sure @GrantP will respond.

@Cdomains

These are some very serious allegations. Have you reported these issues along with the specific examples to the team? It would be extremely easy for us to see who has listed the domain in the Marketplace and determine if there is a pattern of misuse. Based upon your recent post (as well as your post from few weeks ago), it seems you are fairly certain that someone is registering your domains and listing them for sale - however as far as I can tell, you haven't reported the specific examples yet to the team.

If you are not comfortable sharing them here, can you please send those specific examples to me via private messaging, or directly to the team? Also, when you say "This has happened way too many times to be a coincidence!!!!!", can you please share how many instances are you referring to?

It is not uncommon for multiple creatives to think of and submit the same name - in-fact many times when such issues are reported, we find that another creative had previously submitted the same name to contests, and eventually decided to register it, or list it for sale.

Having said that, we take such issues extremely seriously, and would urge you to share the specific names as soon as possible.

After few more attempts I see that their interface is quite buggy. The list does not appear every time.

Also, when you submit an unregistered domain, and want to submit second, you need to reload the page. Because when you click on "Submit an unregistered domain" button second time, it opens the window with fields populated with values you've just submitted. They should be clearing after previous submission, of course.

@Don Gondon I am having a lot of problems when filling description after the domain is approved. When I add many details in description I cannot scroll down description window... and I must publish name first, and after that I can edit my description and add new details.
