Do you think what’s in the best interest of domainers is in the best interest of Yahoo and Google? These two companies don’t necessarily think so. They care about long term profits and “user experience”. These companies can whether a short term storm. What would you do if your parking revenue took a major hit for two years? It would likely wipe you out. But it wouldn’t wipe these companies out.

Already we’ve seen one shoe drop. Domain Name Wire has learned through multiple sources that Ask.com’s Google feed will no longer be syndicated to parking companies as of March 1. A number of parking companies use this feed to augment other search results. I know that Parked.com uses it for traffic to some foreign companies, and apparently HitFarm and Skenzo use this feed as well. There are likely others. (Ask has not returned my calls for comment.)

Are other changes on the horizon? You bet. Buckle up.

If you don't mind me asking, Did you ask "Ask" about the feed withdrawal or was this information gained from other multiple sources?

How much revenue will Google stand to lose if they pull the plug? Anybody take a guess?

I see it as being small - maybe 1-2%, but in terms of hurting domainers, and Parking companies with Yahoo feeds, that percentage of income taken away from them will be much higher.

This is to "keep us in check" - IMO. My view is that they have always looked at domainers and parking companies as competitors instead of partners, and now that domaining is getting noticed, they want to keep us in our place, so to speak. They don't need us organizing, they already have Yahoo and Microsoft to contend with, one more competitor won't help.

IMO

What do u mean by it will hurt parking companies with Yahoo feeds? The Yahoo feed has Google ads in it too?

I think it's about time the parking companies get together to form 1 entity. this new entity will source for ads, and supply feeds to their own parking companies.

No yahoo has its own set of advertisers and does not pull anything from google. They purchased a company called overture a few yrs ago that was a major player in the PPC industry and has that core of the advertisers ever since.

I may start something for parking co's in the coming days for advertisers.

Looking for someone willing to work on a higher % of $$ from a program in trade or on a pay later deal.

If interested pls PM me

Well, it's possible and could be closer to practicality than some other idea tossed around here before.

Just imagine, if Google, Yahoo and Ask one day decide to stop supplying ads to park pages, do you think the parking companies are going to just sit around and fold their companies? I don't think so. I'd bet that these companies will do whatever they can to keep the operation running and generating money for themselves, even if it means working together with other parking companies.

Many times have been suggested that domainers group together and source advertisers themselves, hence cutting off all the middlemen. This is close to impossible because there are just too many players as "domainers". However, there are less players as "parking companies" and it is much much easier to coordinate among the small number of parking companies.

My idea will bring advertisers and domainers together. Essentially becoming the google to the domain industry.

More details to come!!!

You have a good point there! That dream is no longer impossible!

It is, what it is, I have been prepared for the loss of Ask.com going on two months now, As i have been aware of the Ask.com situation for quite a while now.

It is unfortunate that Google has denied Ask.com a contract renewal, But at the same time, Many parking companies have been in transition, preparing to implement a new provider.
