Article submission - Just to one good article site, or to multiple?

I can't understand why someone would submit the same srticle to many article submission sites - sure it adds more links, but doesn't the penalty for duplicate content affect how well those articles perform? Best to submit to only one? Only a small few? Still submit to many?

you are right ! sending the same article to many directories wont help too much , not because any penalty , but will just have indexing problems since google just does not like duplicate content , also the links on those pages will be less valuable .

you have basically 2 good options : the best will be to send different unique article to each directory , thats the best option but might be a bit expensive to implement , the second best option and what most people do - is to spin the article with different text spinning softwares to give it at least 40% uniqueness and that way it will have much better chances to look like a unique article to the search engines .

Article submission is one of the best way in getting high page ranking. Submitting your article to multiple relevant directories will definitely gets your site ranking.More the directories you submitted to, more will be the visitors to your site. I tend to consider article submission not effective anymore. There are hundreds of plugins / script that spin contents from those article directories, causing your link be related to all the websites with these scripts, and it can hurts your ranking deeply.

To submit a single article on multiple website is not in trend after Google Panda Algorithm update. If any candidate so this at now then that much be punished by search engines at the time of update....

What a bunch of baloney in 90% of this thread! Multiple submissions, high PR sites, spun content...there is a lot of advise with no backup, no evidence, no argumentation and ill logic. For all I can see OP is among the few that has a logical idea and wants to hear if there are arguments of doing the opposite. As such were not presented (mainly due to the lack thereof) this thread is better being closed.
