Hi,

I've just started having my articles and blog posts bookmarked.
What i was wondering is if it's better to have your article/blog post sent to 40 different bookmarking sites - or have it sent to a select few - but about 5 times in each.
Please see example below:

Any advice would be greatly received. This SEO stuff is hard work.

Thanks

I think so you must use some popular one and those that are real good in bookmarking like stumbleupon and digg is the best for me

any where should be good since you're looking for backlinks.
for articles, i recommend get your articles approved on 2 major ones
ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com

Weblord - doesn't this lead to a duplication issue - and google will penalise - or do i wait until the article is indexed?

In real world scenario as soon as you hit the Publish button your blog pings different services and For example technorati takes up a small blurb of the text from your post and links back to that particular post on your blog. Once the content is published on your site and its unique this services helps establish you as the real owner of the content. [There might be exceptions with High Authority sites where you submit your content]

Best thing to be out of all the mess is to write different articles for blog and write different ones for article posting.

If you submit your article to one or two major article repositories then Yes it is good. But then many people still will be putting that article on their site with author resource box intact so.... it will be creating duplicate content for which their site will be penalized not yours.

And if this thing is already going to happen then why not just get the same article submitted to 500 article sites ourself :D we can atleast get backlinks and a trickle of traffic whatsoever from those links.

I suggest you only submit articles to top article directories. I once did article submission to 100+ directories but even after 1 year, I only saw backlinks [in google webmaster tools] from 15 or so directories. From other directories, google counted no backlink. Now I only submit articles to 15 top article directories.

:( Humm don't know why but I submited 1 single article to 500 to 1000 article directories and got PR 5 and also got 1200 backlinks [Maybe due to syndications]

But I really got it and it is still PR 4 as of now even after 3 years.

Nick - the article you sent to the directories did you have it specifically written for directories or did you have it on your site first - then when it was picked up by the SE's did you submit it?

I specially written it for article directories.

There is nothing like just submit it to 2 or 5 article directories.

WHY?

Because EX: If you submit to ezinearticles.com then anyone can take that article with links intact for author resource box and put it on any forum or a blog. So the article is surely going to go on more then 2 or 5 directories.
