Most are probably not worth much,but if you own the right kind of names, there is money in them.Every extension has useless domains.

Correct. However, I think if you currently own these .US domains it would be MUCH more difficult to be objective in this area. And of course there are exceptions to every rule. But from my experience it is better as a general rule to avoid ccTLDs altogether.

In my opinion these .US types of domains will suffer terrifically as the Great Domain Shakeout™ occurs in the coming months and years.

No, not if you have good names. You also have to consider how much you can get the name for. If you can sell it for more than you paid (total), profit, very simple.

To answer the OP, no, good keywords have value in every extension.

Thumb rule is, weaker the extension, stronger the keyword needs to be to have resale value, at least imho.
