Is it just me, or are the drop lists full of garbage domains?? Also pre-release doesn't have much to offer either... It's pretty bad when you can't even find single word .info domains dropping that aren't a verb or adjective. I remember when noun .info used to drop and those used to be considered mostly worthless.

How are you guys making any money?! :O

I think I can affirm that I am still able to find good domains among the dropped ones but I confirm that there is a lot of garbage.
Not long ago I affirmed that if I saw another ugg related domain in the dropped I would spew....

I suppose it all comes down to what kind of names you are looking for...you won't probably find top premium one word domains among the dropped

Perhaps, to you, many of those domains are crap. But to a potential end-user, it could be gold. In my opinion, the trick/difficult part is to identify domains in an emotionally detached manner - uninfluenced by your own biases and arbitrariness of 'good' or 'bad' names.

One man's food, another man's poison - its true you know.

As far as drops goes I am able to find about 5 that I reg with .99 coupon codes for the week. On the aftermarket there are plenty but I am just kinda a cheap bastard ;)

when i saw the thread title my heart skipped a beat and i thought that maybe you were a long lost domaining "brutha from anotha mutha" reaching out to reconnect after all these years. sigh. ;)

i guess regarding the number/quality of drops available that meet your/my/their criteria, it is a matter of several factors all playing off each other

1) all in all simply a lot more domains registered these days. So even if the "number of quality domains" stayed constant compared to a few years ago, they are simply more buried/harder to find based on registration/drop statistics compared to before, which need to be effectively filtered out without losing the gems.

2) a lot more players/domainers in the game doing the exact same thing with the same or comparable tools and, to some degree, the same niche/keywords on the radar to compete with.

3) More people willing to pay more to get it in pre-release BEFORE the drop rather than risk it.

plus many other factors of course too i am sure.....

Everybody mentions these .99 domain registrations using Coupons, I assume these are Godaddy Promo codes? Isn't it true that these registrations are limited to one .99 cent registration per customer? How do you get around that and register more than one for .99 cents? sorry to go off topic a bit

I was able to snag a few nice ones, have to be there for first pick as others snatch em up right away. And anything good is typically back ordered

The godaddy promo for .99 or $1.49, is all well and good, other than the Domain privacy costing $7.99, then all of a sudden it's not a great deal. I've been using namecheap who always has a 10% discount, and free privacy. They had a half price domain reg sale a couple weeks back, which was a real bargain
