Should you only buy .coms or are .nets and .orgs a good investment if you think the name is good. Basically if you are searching for a .com and only the .net is available should you still register it? Or does just depend on how good the name is?

Yes, .net is also good. .org is good for some cases.

I think you should only buy the .net if it is a company name (and you already have the .com) :imho:

More generic names are better just as a .com

Both extensions are good but more restrictive than .com. The keywords should fit the TLD.
.ORG is fine for everything that is non-profit
.NET is fine for everything that is tech/Internet/network related

IMO it is a good thing to have a few in your portfolio. Also these TLDs are well-established and respected. The same does not hold true for some of the more recent TLDs.
However many names are registered under .net & .org as a second choice (.com already taken). The trick is to find names that fit the ext and don't look like a second choice :gl:

It depends on the name. I think .net is a good alternative to .com for commercial purposes, so I would go for .net if .com is not available and the name is good.

any will do for me, but will prefer [dot]com if still available for people usually goes for it first! but when you do something better for your .net or .org, you'll be blessed :)
