Hello,

You maybe seen these last days a green interactive banner ad running inviting domainers to test their knowledge:
The test show 4 dot com where 3 are premiums and one not.
The user need to find the no premium name in less than 12 seconds.
The test was the same for DNF and NamePros visitors.
It was ramdomly served from a prepared set of 500 tests of easy level.

After 2 or 3 days running, results are here:

Testers:
NamePros 484
DNF 554

Timeout:
NamePros 8.88 %
DNF 10.65 %

Lost:
NamePros 44.21 %
DNF 42.60 %

Won:
NamePros 46.90 %
DNF 46.75 %

Interpretation:

The percentage of visitors who succeed the test is similar on both forum.
The main difference look likes to be in the Timeout/Lost.
Maybe DNF visitors are a bit older and need more time to think and respond, this should explain the higher timeout.
At the inverse, NamePros visitors are speeder but do more errors.
I was surprised to only see a 47% winners rate with an easy test level.
But I assume this confirms what I always say:
At the inverse of domainers people don't see the difference between garbage and premium names.

DNF vs NamePros ==> No winner!

Perhaps, but we're better-looking!

But seriously ... what is your estimated margin of error? At first glance, looks to me like the difference in results falls well within the margin, given the sample size. Meaning: the results are statistically equivalent.

Not to mention .... Most feel they don't need to be judged by some Banner Quiz.

How many "experienced" Domainers participated - and How can you tell by their "click" ?

The broadcasting of this Quiz has not been limited to forum's members but also guests.
As I explain above, this should explains why the winners rate is not higher.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to speak badly about DNF on here or not, but it seems like all they care about is getting money out of people ("suckers" didn't seem like a nice word to use) in order to get "premium" membership. NamePros is better than DNF in every way possible if you ask me. I haven't logged into DNF in years and they aren't getting one cent of my money or two seconds of my time as long as NamePros is around (and they still wouldn't even if NP wasn't around.)

Mark,

Statistics are statistics, i doubt hes trying to proove who's the best, but it would show that DNF may be quicker on the mark.

The difference with NP and DNF is that DNF charge you for everything, even to list a sale, there rip offs, lol. NP is a free community (near enough) for everyone, so if i had the choice it would br NP.

I don't understand what you mean by

"CONGRATS, YOU WON!
As you seen we share the same valuation method to qualify Premium domains."

The second part doesn't make much sense.

The % is so close that it's crazy to draw any real conclusions from the numbers - in fact, DNF has another 70 "tests" more than NP which already can construe the numbers. I'm not the biggest fan of the straw and political polls and I'm not a fan of this method either.

I'd hope that your company doesn't evaluate domains in 12 seconds, either. Different people function in different manners and some may take longer than others. This is hardly an accurate picture of anything, much less to conclude DNF'ers are better and NP'ers (and considering many people visit and participate at both).

Must admit, i got some wrong purposely to see what it would say.

Sorry NP.

On a side note: Premium Domains, some of your ads do not use great English, including this test "As you seen" As you have seen ?

Xbonics is a simple formula of calculating many things...My calculations show NP's has more members...Is a much more friendly comunity as a whole....Has an owner and administrators who care more about the members than stats of polls or otherwise... In doing the math...who has more members..NamePros does...enough said.

i dont think its completely true because alot of members which are at namepros are at dnforums as welll.. so yeah...

really you can't make any estimations because DNF is not as active as namepros, even though does have paid memberships i am not a very big fan of their staff because they are not cooperative... so you can just conclude it by their staff that they are no where close np.

I just took it and passed!

How objective is your test if you rig the questions and the answers?

BTW, your shimmering gold ad is one of the *most* annoying ads on the web.

Haha the scientific value of this test went to zero the second I took it. I am far from being competent in the domaining area and I always take this test just for fun. Sorry for screwing up your results NP :P

Shouldn't this be in the advertising section? Pretty obvious.

That's a riot. Thanks for sharing the results of your test.
