Hello

Please appraise Archive.name, this is a premium domain name, brandable, can be easily used for an archive for almost anything since everything has a name and its easy to remember!

FYI, archive.info is currently for sale, highest bid on it was $2500 so far. How much do you think this domain is worth?

Thank you :)

So you've bought this name because you've seen the $2.5K bid for Archive.info? I'm sure there are tons of keywords available in .name but it's a very weak extension as far as I've seen.

I am not too sure whats bad in that, yes I've bought it when I saw the .info auction, and I am not entirly sure why its a weak extension, I've spent the past 2 hours searching for .name domain names and ull surprised for the amount of registered .name domains using main keywords.
Thanks for your comment, but I am looking for a price.

Well, if you take all keyword .info .us and .biz sales over $1K the last couple of years from DNJournal for example and you buy the .name correspondent of those domains (where available) that are probably worth low $xxx, xxx together, that won't make you a rich .name investor, that's why I'm not sure your reasoning for buying this name was good enough.

archive.name is a low $xx name IMHO

the basic principle is that value varies a LOT for the same domain under various TLDs and I don't know of many if any sales in dot .name

thanks again webcom, but i think its worth at least low XXX, i've seen worse .cc domains sold for that much. And I am not looking to get rich from selling .name's :)

Even archive.in was registred on Sunrise day. So certainly some value. I am not educated to put a $ value on this name.

I think some domains work well in the .name extension.

I have Reserved.name and OVT.name and although I have seen some interest in these names, unfortunately it looks like I wont get higher than $XX for them.

I would add archive.name to about the same value as my domains and say $XX.

The truth is I also believe these domains are worth at least $XXX but when domainers get an idea that the extension sucks, then no one is interested in the domains. I would imagine poker.name also isnt regarded as a great domain?

heh, I am sure there are lots of excllent .name domains! I dont think ill sell archive.name for anything less than $100, hell ill keep it for future development !

better hang onto it for 5-10 years or develop it into something but I dont see a value above low $xx, since it is also a .name if it were a .com,.cc,.net,.org,.info,.ws,.biz,.us it would be better than .name

It was also the last extension of "archive" to go which should tell you something as well.

I still dont see why Archive.cc or Archive.ws is better than Archive.name, can someone give me a reasonable reason other than domainers "dont like it" or its not a "good tld" Iam not saying I expect $1K for it, but hell if a .info can be sold for 5K, why cant a .name be sold for $300 ??

Because .info is a half decent extension. .name is crap.

I personally really like this name. Archive.name seems to work really nicely and would be a great site for archiving expired domains and such. It completely depends on the buyer for the value. Some people are sceptic about the .name extension (as you can see above) but if I were serious about buying it, I may bid up to $500 for such a name.

I will sure state the obvious for you

.ws stands for website so "Archive Website" would make perfect sense

.cc stands for Cocos Islands so "Archive" would make sense as if it were attached to a .us, .co.uk, .eu, .jp.....etc

The .name in my opinion is the lowest you can get. I dont even think ive seen/visited a website wit a .name ext.

But at the end of the day it all comes down to the end user and what they really wanna pay for it.

Right now at sedo.com there are 9 archive."whatever" domains for sale and not 1 has any bids on it, so they can probablly be had for cheap

Thanks Raz0rBlade_uk, the domain can be used for lots of great ideas, the expired domain one is one those great ideas, I think I am going to put the domain for sale soon here on namepros amongst other sites, SP, DNF and probably ebay, if I don't get a reasonable price for the domains potential, I will most surely develop the site myself.
btw, any experience with godaddy.com's appraisal service, is it worth anything?

Well don't attack me for it, but I do not like .name's. It has such ill repute as a failed extension that even the best keyword will be only a menial amount.

However archive is a top notch keyword and undeveloped, you may be able to push the domain into the upper end of low $xxx.

Some say .ws is for West Somalia (or whatever that country was, again) lol

But I agree: I think the value is reg fee/early to mid $xx. .name is NOT a domain ppl typically buy to use. They mostly buy them for invesment. I, also, don't think I've ever visited a site with a .name thrown in.

Archive.us guy wants 115,000 EURO for it. Now that's a joke.

I like this domain - I would say high $xx - low $xxx. If you develop it or find a high end buyer you could get closer to the mid $xxx.

.Name is an amateur TLD. I'd say a weird 2 letter cctld is better than this.

Archive.sc - Archive source (pretty decent)
Archive.in (decent)
Archive.us (decent)
Archive.io ("OK")
Archive.name (childish)

The point is, no big company or investor likes to have a name which by no means can be made premium. .name sounds too amateur, & not professional.

I'd say regfee. Hope you surprise me with a big sale! good luck!

No, not the obvious. WS stands for Western Samoa, but WebSite is a very useful mnemonic for all us non-Western Samoans.

The .name in my opinion is the lowest you can get. I dont even think ive seen/visited a website wit a .name ext.
I think the internet marketer Mark Joyner, founder of Simpleology.com uses a .name extension but this is probably because the .com was taken and he is in the business of promoting his own name.

IMO I think that the word archive fits the extension perfectly. Archives are often made up of lists of names.
As to value? No idea, but I think you should sit on it or develop it somehow, or even park with 1plus.net for the near future. I don't think that you could make a fast buck with this one, but should think longer term.
