Hello

Please appraise Archive.name, this is a premium domain name, brandable, can be easily used for an archive for almost anything since everything has a name and its easy to remember!

FYI, archive.info is currently for sale, highest bid on it was $2500 so far. How much do you think this domain is worth?

Thank you :)

Thanks for your input Halobitt, I also think .name works perfectly with archive, I have already started reseaching the possibilities of developing it into a working website, which would be worth way more than selling it as a domain alone.

Hello!

I think the main thing that's being missed here is that there may be a difference between a high value domain, and a good domain for development.

This domain has little value, because .name is not a particularly accepted domain name. Just do a search here http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-29,GGLG:en&q=site:.name to verify that there are not many high quality .NAME domains. That is what determines the value, not necessarily the keyword. Thus, while it may be an awesome keyword, and it is, it can not be of high value when
1. high quality .name domains are still available for registration;
2. the market is such that .name is looked down upon (proof above) for whatever reason. Probably the initial.surname.name fiasco devalued it.

So, my advice would be to develop it. Yes, you might find the right end-user and get a few hundred $, but I think you'd be far better off creating a nice traffic website out of it. A good website + a .name is thusfar an unknown quantity!

Best of luck!

Based on my historic obervation, as all the good names in .com and.net get gobbled up, alternative extension usage have risen in prominence. Case in point: .tv. Two years ago .tv was the blacksheep of the domain industry. $35 plus per domain. An un-heard-of sinking country called Tuvula (sp.). A waste of money in most domainers eyes. However, the real SMART domainers quietly snatched up the good names that matched the extension and were available at reg fee.

Fast forward 2 years. These same domainers are selling their .tv's for very good to excellent ROI. Personally this year I've sold 8 .tv's all in the $XXX to $XXXX range.

As I see it, niche CCTLD and TLD extensions like .TV, .FM, .AM, .NU, .SC, .Info, and .Name will continue to rise in value and as people develop this virtual realestate, they will become more and more mainstream.

So my advice to you regarding .Name and other extensions is to invest in the TOP names that make sense with the alternative extension, develop them, and be patient!

Archive.name is good, but not great. Great would be Domain.name, Buy.name, Sell.name, Track.name, or Top.name. Likewise, names like News.AM, Sports.AM, Mp3.FM, Music.FM, Cable.TV, Brand.nu would be sound investments also.
