.tv Apple Tv - The Straw That Broke The Camels Back

Guys,

Two huge gadgets were introduced to the world recently, the IPHONE and the APPLE TV, both by APPLE INC ( no longer APPLE COMPUTERS)

Mr Padower over on . Mobi has his opinions and groupies for why the IPHONE is just absolutely huge for .Mobi. I totally disagree and may yet respond to his thread, but more importantly explain coherently over here on the .TV forum why APPLE TV is JUSTIFABLY so important for .tv.

It is as huge as it gets.

For the first time we will not only have TV channels on the net when we want it and what ever we want, but we can go a step further and enjoy the luxury of that 42 inch plasma TV screen to view the internet TV channel.

So, now let us take the following scenario -

We have a successful business man. We will call him Jim. Jim recently got promoted to Vice president of Sales for a software sales company based out of New York and shipped out to Seattle to open a second office.

Jim is a workaholic and never gets home before midnight. There is nothing worth watching on the TV at this hour.

And Jim is feeling a little homesick......and wants to catch up on whats going on in his home town, understandably.....

So, he gets out his laptop, goes to NY.TV and clicks the play button. He settles back into the sofa and clicks the APPLE TV box and now he has just "tuned " into NY.TV on his plasma Tv.

The channel is perfect - it carries the local news, shows, weather, politics etc and Jim is now smiling....and falls asleep with a smile on his face and a beer in his hand and the TV flickering....its good to be home.....



The point to all this is that the technology has finally arrived that puts all the pieces together to make the .TV ext a must have............because now you can watch any TV channel you want, when you want, on TV.

actually, having had a second look at the site, it may be that APPLE TV only allows you to watch whatever it is you have on ITUNES.,,,this would be crap....but only temporary...some other company will come in and steal the show by allowing you to see anything you wanted to see that you have on the net on the TV screen......

i agree with you on both your points. the first thing i thought when i saw the iphone was that looks like a pretty robust browser that can handle mainstream sites.

I also see that you have put a development task on my shoulders. lol
