This is my current "Books To Buy" list, I add to it over the year and buy loads of books every few months or so. Currently it is at 17 books. Has anyone read any of them? What are they like?

The ones by Douglas Adams are awesome. Very funny stuff. If you enjoy those ones (hitchhikers Guide and the others), you might want to check out a couple of more of his that I believe are an even more entertaining read. They are:

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
and
The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul....just about pissed myself laughing in the first couple of chapters

The Picture of Dorian Gray is also a great read. A good story about how ugly a soul can become.

The above ones are superb but let me recommend a few more fantasy fiction books:

1) The Amulet Of Samarkand By Jonathan Stroud
2) The Golem's Eye By Jonathan Stroud
3) Ptolemy's Gate By Jonathan Stroud

This is a trilogy and is simply amazing. Definitely one of the best trilogies I've evr read so far and I've read quite a few heh

Another author I recommend is Cornelia Funke and I particularly like Inkheart and Inkspell by her.

The Douglas Adams books are great.. I also highly recommend Alice in Wonderland and The Time Machine (movies too)

Yeah, they are indeed brilliant, one of the few books where you are oblivious to anything around you once you start reading. I read the trilogy in one go (took me 30 hours or so)
