I just got mine today. Nice piece of work, sturdy and comfortable. It seems to be the best camera I have ever held (and I have held a lot) since my dad got his 300d! :)

Anyway... I want to find the serial number, so that I can register it online, but I can't find it anywhere, and I can't find a website that will help me either. Does anyone know where it is?

I would certainly reccomend this camera by the way! :) its :kickass:

Thanks
Tom

Canon usually places the serial numbers in the weirdest spots. On cameras they usually place them underneath the camera, check this link -> http://www.steves-digicams.com/2005_reviews/rebelxt_views.html

If you have a hard time finding it, check out the box - it's on there as well :)

It's a kick ass camera btw, you've definately bought quality :) I've got it myself, unfortunately not here at the moment otherwise I'd check it for ya. When I was torn between the 20D and the 350D, I chose the 350D because I didn't want to pay twice the price for the exact same camera with a few added functions. I also bought the battery grip - makes it easier to hold the camera if you're using it over a longer period of time. The 350D takes some phenomenal pictures, I also want to get the EP-S 65mm macro lense, you should check out some of the pictures it can produce - stunning! I'd blow them up to A1 size, frame them and hang'em in my livingroom or wherever. Right now I have a 75-300mm and a 28-75mm..plenty for now, but it would be nice with a macro lens as well..

Dang, now I almost feel like going outside and take some new pictures :D

EDIT - also check this thread, I haven't had this problem so far but supposedly the serial number easily rubs of - http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1031&thread=12997844 (scroll down for pic of where you'll find the serial number)

Great thanks! :) all done now!

I only have the standard lens it comes with at the moment. (28-55mm I think). I was looking a a larger lens, such as 100-200mm or 150-300mm, because I want to take more nature photography, and you can't really do that with the smaller lens. My only problem is, they are 1000s of pounds! and at the moment I don't have that money!

Photography is a nice hobby though, I have only taken about 3 photos on my 350d, but all of them are stunning. The only bit I don't like is the option selector on top (the big button that sticks up that you twist). It looks a bit tacky stuck up there, but its not really that much of a problem, and I really don't notice it.

Going out with my dad to take some pics this evening hopefully! :)

Acctually, I was thinking, there isn't a photography forum on this board is there? I think that a photography forum, although not really what the board is about, may be a nice place. Other boards have one, and they are very successful.

Best Regards
Tom

The standard lens works fine if you want to take regular pictures. When you start to get more serious about it, I'd look into getting other lenses, if you're into photography get a 75-300mm with USM (auto focus) and IS (picture stabelizer) f/4-5.6 or if you want to get an even better lens go for the 2.8L version :) They take stunning long range pictures in the wild! Macro lenses like the MP-E 65mm can take pictures that take your breath away..check out this gallery, all taken with the MP-E 65 http://www.photosig.com/go/photos/browse?id=13231 or this one http://www.photosig.com/go/photos/browse?id=13229 You just gotta love it :)

Yeah you'll adjust to that in no time, that's one of the small advantages the EOS 20D has, it has that wheel next to the digi display on the back of the camera. I've not had any problems with it yet on my camera, and I'm allround really happy :)

If you need a couple of links where you can post your pictures, have the critiqued and admired just let me know, I have a couple great sites that are made for that exact type of use :)

Have fun tonight he he

Wow, could you send me the links please? Thanks a lot! :)

I am very into photography. My dad has been into photography all his life, and he recently bought me an olympus OM10 (ok, its not that good, but its OK for getting into photography). He taught me alot about SLRs and I started snapping, untill all of my three films were finished. :'( Then I thought I had better get a digital camera. No film and also, you know there and then if your pic has come out right.

I am a member of a photographic club at the moment, and on Tuesdays they have models in for portraiture photography, and I gather 135mm is needed for model work (whats that in digital? about 100mm?).

Please send me those links, I would love to have somewhere to "show off" my handy work! :hehe:

Thanks
Tom
