Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

Anyone having trouble with Afternic today?

I woke up to the (always nice) emails from Afternic confirming that a name had sold, and I needed to transfer ownership. When I go to my Afternic account I can only get as far as the (sold) domain name plus a red "Transfer Ownership" button. This clickable link does not open and I am stuck. I've tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome, with the same (non) result.

I've emailed the TA Agent by replying to the email, rather than using the link in the sales record, as I can't get to that. Is anyone else having issues with the functionality of their Afternic account today??

easiest way to solve this fast if thats what you want is simply to call them up.

Well, I finally managed to initiate the transfer from within my Afternic account. I have spent the entire morning on my Mac and alternately my iPad, with no luck on any browser.

I finally fired up an older model Mac with a much earlier OS, and the Transfer Ownership page finally loaded. So my take-away from this is that Afternic has spotty compatibilty (at best) with current Mac OS. If anyone else has experienced this problem, I'd really like to know.

It seems that afternic system is far from being "stable" in recent weeks. Yesterday I was unable to login during ~1 hour. Bulk domain upload (.csv) may or may not work (it says "successfully uploaded 0 domains" if I'm unlucky). Individual domain edit page did not work last time I checked (changes were simply not saved), so domain prices could be only edited from the domain list (table) view.

And now the transfer ownership page? @canswift did you check it later, maybe it started to work again in all browsers after switching to an older Mac?

I had the same issue a couple of days ago (unable to click on the red transfer button) - but I was able to click on the actual domain name when you are in the account summary page (and on the right it will mention "My Domain Sales"). Even though it is not (made) obvious that you can click on the link (URL) of your sold domain.

That said - Afternic is just a complete joke in terms of its speed (extremely slow), layout (the look & feel of the website dates back to the 90s) and functionality (no way to filter your domains by specific important characteristics, no domain statistics, the portfolio page is not completely visible on one screen, only a maximum of 50 domains you can edit in bulk, etc., etc., etc.). It's the biggest irony of all: Afternic is supposed to be specialized in selling websites/domains, but probably has one of the worst looking and functioning websites in the world!

Thanks for the replies @IMEZI and @MarkedMarket , these don't make me feel quite so stupid... I couldn't believe I was being asked to click on the red transfer button, only to have that button not work (for hours) yesterday (on multiple browsers and devices).

@tonyk2000, it may have been the older Mac /older OS that finally got it to work. Or it may just have been a coincidence / timing that the page finally started to load at the time I was using that computer. If I log into Afternic now that page shows "Transfer in Progress" so at least it worked for the time I needed it (eventually).

Is @Joe Styler aware of these issues? This would seem to have major impact on the delivery of the sold domain to the customer in a timely fashion. Not to mention the teeth-grinding frustration of the Afternic sellers just trying to complete the basic transfer function.

I am not aware of any issues with the site but I am traveling and not in the office right now. You can email [email protected] with a screenshot of the error if it still happening. They can help you.

That's it exactly. The "Transfer Ownership" red button came up but was not clickable. Only after some frustrating hours on multiple computers and browsers, did it appear to work. At this point I don't know what the issue was, and if it had anything to do with my changing to an older computer, or if that was just timing that it worked then.
