Anyone had an offer through GoDaddy Buy Domain Service?

Just received an unsolicited offer today through GoDaddy's Buy Domains Service. It's a modest offer (few $xxx) and I would certainly ask more. Anyone here had experience with GD's Offer / Counter Offer service before? Is this more likely to be an end-user offer?

Yes, in my opinion, it is likely an end user.

I think domainers/resellers would have tried you directly via your whois contact first, before opting for this service ($69.99 + commission).

Personally, if I really really wanted the domain, and you didn't reply to me, then maybe i would have gone through one of these services (including Sedo).

I agree it's likely an end user b/c there is really no other reason to use that particular service. It's likely not a savvy end user however so more likely a mom & pop operation than a large company.

Yes it's more than likely an end-user, but not necessarily. I've had offers from GoDaddy in the past, but when I quote my price, things usually dry-up real quick. So they could be end-users who are cheap-charlies.

I received on low xxx offer, and replied with mid xxxx. The offer raised to mid xxx, I reduced my offer to low-mid xxxx. The offer raised to mid-high xxx, and I reduced my offer to very low xxxx to be close to the deal. Guess what! Godaddy acquisition service first hold the negotiation and replied they were on buyer's limit and had to ask the buyer for a limit increase. Later, they cancelled the negotiation. Both from the buyer's and seller's point of view, that negotiation process was awful. In three counters they are out of limit.

:talk:

a big misconception among domainers is that they believe or hope, offers originating from GD bds are from end-users.

but in reality, the majority are from other domainers just like u and me.

how do i know, cuz most offers and counter offers are lowball.

still, i have sold some via that service for names listed at sedo at prices higher than reseller offerings.

but you never know until the domain is sold and the name gets "end-used"

Good Luck!

I have had several offers and counter-offers, but only one went through in the last year. Sold for low-mid X,XXX and all went smoothly. I got paid by PayPal, though they also have the option to credit you the amount as GoodAsGold which can be used inside Godaddy.
