I sent a name to BD and they sent me an email back on Feb 21st saying that they would like to buy my domain name for high XX, and "Will this meet with your approval?". I sent an email back on Feb 22nd stating that this would be acceptable, and how would you like me to to transfer the name, and how would the payment be made (Paypal etc). I got an email back that same day stating that "I will have (name) from our office contact you today regarding transfer/payment issues." I did not hear from them that day, so I sent an email to the person that sent me the original email to purchase the name, stating that I have not heard back from anyone regarding payment/transfer procedures.

I then receive an email this morning (Feb 24th) from [email protected] stating "Thank you again for your offer to sell BuyDomains the following names on 2/21/2007: (domain name)

Your proposal is being reviewed by our portfolio acquisition team.

What ??? They have already agreed to purchase the name from me. The only thing I figure that we have to work out, is the payment/transfer issue.

Has anyone else had dealings with BD, and how did it go, as this is my first time selling to them.

Thanks

Ive never sold a domain to them. Ive had them lowball me on a LLL.com for $25 bucks. I simply responded back with not interested. Considering your offer (I do recall your appraisal thread) I figured they may have come to their sense a little and made a decent reseller offer. I am curious to see how this works out and if BuyDomains completes the transaction.

Funny... And here I thought I was the only person they offered $25 to for a LLL.com... See here: http://www.namepros.com/domain-name...d-25-for-a-lll-com.html?highlight=$25+lll.com

Just a heads up, if BD is offering you whatever amount of money, assume your domain is worth at least 10X that figure. Be wary of their ridiculous lowball offers. They seem to prey on the less experienced.

...and 10 minutes after they've acquired it, it'll be on their site for 20x what they bought it for, guaranteed.

20X? That is too conservative. Try 1,000X. I don't think I've seen them list any LLL.com for less than $50k, regardless of the letters.

I'm thinking of telling them that if they do not respond within a certain time period (like next Tues), that the deal will be null and void. This should be more than enough time to complete the transaction. Do you think there could be any repercussions?

It already sounds like they don't know what the heck is going on, so I doubt they pursue anything against you especially for $xx. That being said, I believe you have an ethical duty to complete a sale you agreed to. However, if BD doesn't seem to think you came to an agreement, then I'll leave it to you to conclude whether or not any agreement had actually been made.

Fonzie, I have no problem sticking to the original agreement (as they made the offer, and I accepted), I am a man of my word, and I have already agreed to the sale, so I am bound by that. It's just the last email that I received from them stating that "Your proposal is being reviewed by our portfolio acquisition team." when they have already agreed to the sale. Lets just make the transaction and be done with it. Mind you, I'll probably be crying in my beer (if the sale goes through) the next week after the DnJournal weekly sales report comes out. Live and learn....

Perhaps if you post the domain we could give you an appraisal and tell you if the offer is decent.

TDNAM first

TopQualityToys(.)com is the type of domain that could sit for years or be bought for a few bucks. I'd list it on tdnam.com first. They have had some seemingly average domains go for XXXX, so it's worth a shot.

definitely respond with a deadline, they could come back 6 months later demanding their price.

did they contacted you? or did you contacted them?

I contacted them first through their website, basically just to see what would happen, and, hey, they made me an offer and I accepted, should be deal done!. This should be a quick transaction (within a few days, and that's pushing it, it's only high xx). I'm not sure what the delay is. As I told Fonzie, I am a man of my word, I made a deal and I will stick to it, BUT, within a certain time period. I will not wait around weeks for a xx deal to close. I will be sending BD an email tomorrow stating exactly that.

Hi all,

I got an $260 offer from BD for www.searchproperties.net
When i got appraised through forums many said it would be $300. Though i dint sell to BD, i thought what they offered is resanable for me. May be i could be wrong. But do we have any other option other than auction site and forums to sell?

cheers

That's the most generous offer I've heard of BD offering anyone, notwithstanding their obscenely high bids at Snap.

I don't care for buy domains. I sent them a list of decent generic names ranging in different categories. They wanted to buy a ton of them for $325 which sounds decent but I knew better. The price barely was around reg fee for each. I know they were worth much more than that.

With the way they blow money on SnapNames, you'd think they would make better offers to people for their names. That's why I LOVED when they were doing their adult/gambling liquidation, because I pretty much raped them on the 38 names I got during that and wish I could have bought more.

Update

Transaction has been completed, funds received and name transferred to BD. Maybe a bad decision to sell to them, maybe not. We'll just have to see. Watch DNJournal for TopQualityToys.com, I sold it to them for high xx. I got it for reg fee about a week ago.
