So anybody regged chrome plated :hehe: domains or is it a trademark.

A casual search shows several chrome related domains snapped on sept 1 itself while the launch seems to be on 3rd.

Seems google seems to be going the whole hog on this one with a lot of features like "sandboxing" i.e. an independent tab can be closed if it turns rogue, powerful anti-pishing features and the latest java engine etc., etc.,

Knowing google it would be short on bells and whistles and more on features it seems.

So show your chrome domains :xf.love:

Going out and registering domains related to Google Chrome is the epitome of lazy domaining. Don't do it, guys.

Aside from it being unethical and possibly illegal, it's a flat-out waste of money.
It also smacks of Noobie in some regards b/c when these Chrome domainers get a couple years down the line, if that happens, then they will see how they wasted their time, money, energy developing something that can conceivably, although admitted rare, cost them everything the worked for and maybe even everything they own if the complainant choose court instead of UDRP and can show "bad faith", which Chrome will be easy to do based on how folks here say they will use the domains :

The nationwide median of the cost of litigation through discovery is $151,000 and through trial is $300,000. But in any significant litigation, these numbers are deceptively low.

You know what I am wrong. It does not just smack of noobie..... there are still many old-school domainers who do this too, intentionally, and they have trouble letting those TM domains go b/c they got to some of the best ones first and those domains make they a lot of money.......total cash cows that may end up being the downfall of some of them.

ChromeDesk.com registered since May, 2007.
Although it wasn't meant to be browser related...

That, I'd imagine, depends on what it is used in conjunction with. Yeh, the word chrome, on its own, is a generic term. Its similar to the way "mesh" is a generic term, however that hasn't prevented Microsoft from launching a bid to TM "Live Mesh", nor did it stop them when the successfully managed to TM "Windows" (only for it to be "rebuffed" by the TM office at a later date).

The domain "chromebrowser.com" or variants of it, will only produce problems for the buyer, IMO.

yes i think like you !

I want all chrome wheels, but I had no clue that Google came out with a new browser. Why didn't they pick a made up name? Like they did with Google?

I'm avoiding it to be honest. I don't want to end up facing trademark issues (if that's even a possibility). Better to be safe than sorry I believe...then again I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to stuff like this. :D

Drop-caught SpectraChrome.com a couple months back (it had been reg'ed since 1996) and quickly flipped it for $500. Didn't realize until later the buyers held a TM on the name :)
