I only know that I can use the wayback machine, but to my knowledge, that can only determine if there was a website built on the domain name in the past, not if the domain name was registered. Anyone know if there is a way?

Nope, it shows me what all the other whois lookups show. There is ''hosting history'' but I can't see anything under there.

your title and your question were not clear enough.... did you looking for DOMAIN name first creation date? or did you looking for WEBSITE creation date?

whois.domaintools.com will show you DOMAIN name creation date http://prntscr.com/lrc98q

But it's not correct. I was checking a domain whose creation date was reported as 2018 but the wayback machine says there was a website on that domain name in 2008 the first time.

So in fact, the domain must be at least 10 years old.

Hi @Lord Antares, you can use this great tool for DNS history search:

    http://www.hosterstats.com/

HosterStats.com provides a free searchable historical DNS database for over 572 million active and deleted domains in the .com .net .org .biz .info .mobi .asia .ie .eu .de .co.uk Top Level Domains. HosterStats.com also tracks the domain statistics for over 7 Million hosters based on their nameservers. The historical coverage of domain tracking and hoster statistics stretches back to 2000. It is the source for domain name registration, hosting and registrar statistics.

    For example:

That means the domain must been have dropped and re-registered. It can be same owner or two different owners.

WHOIS data does not indicate domain age per se. It only gives the
creation and expiration dates. You (or the scripts) must calculate the age, years, days, even hours. That's one of the major functions of my scripts.
