Any success contacting owners of On Hold domains ?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has already bought an on hold domain from its owner ... saving it from the deletion .... And,if you can tell us what domain and at what price, that would be nice !

This is something I'm planning to do but I have some doubts about the efficiency of the method ...

If the domain is really good then the owner may just do what the guy did with touchdown.com (see superdealchris' post, that's what gave me the idea of posting this thread) ... he saved the domain for himself !!! Not for the one who has been kind enough to contact him.
