Any members here with WP Theme and Template creation experience?

I was curious how many members on NP has experience with creating their own original layout/design for a Wordpress Blog?
I'm very much interested in learning more about WP and it's potential and how i can create my own designs.

I found it a lot easier than I thought it would be, but I worked by disecting an existing template to keep all of the PHP variables intact and then rebuilding to my own design.
And if you've used CSS before, that part of it will be a doddle...

That is an interesting approach only then i would have to find a template that meets my expectations.
Also i am not familiar with CSS so this would create an extra hurldle for me.

I did found this site that looks interesting for making your own design.

But then you would have only the theme and not the the template which is also very important for your own design since this decides where your content is going to be placed and how the navigation is arranged.
