Any main reason for premium names to drop?

I've been going over the daily pending drop lists and out of the 60-70K domains listed there are perhaps 4 or 5 I think are worth grabbing. However, every once in a while there is a gem that surprises me.

Just curious if there are any primary reasons people let these better domain names drop.

Do you think the previous owners were just not paying attention, or are most of these drops on purpose?

I realize no one really knows the answer to this, but I was curious if anyone had any theories.

many reasons, one email notifications are not reaching the owner, owner lost interest and doesn't know or care about value.

I'd say death would be the main reason, and the fact that they might be registered with a registrar which doesn't participate in the auctioning off of expired domains. It would be an extreme congruence of reasons for any good domain to actually drop. Even then, don't expect to be able to hand reg any good dropping domain. There are a lot of powerful drop-catchers out there. In order to beat them you must backorder dropping domains. Which puts them on the radar of domainers

There are so many reasons. Maybe that person is quite sick (or even dead), maybe the announcing email hasn't reached the destination (happened to me once), the owner lost his interest etc. You can't know.

What you can do is to take benefit of this thing. :D

Most common reasons have been mentioned above.
Often it's a business venture shutting down, with nobody really in charge, or nobody thinks about that 'asset'. Because many people don't know the value of domain name, they don't even know they can be traded easily.

Maybe due to google deindexing these domains due to the owner playing with blackhat seo? It's a dangerous pitfall then!! ??

Obviously people forgetting to renew them and people who are unaware of their values are the most common, IMO.
