Another one of those crappy resellers SnapNames gives me...

Watch
A new low this time...

https://secure2.dns-net.de/domainmanagement/

After logging in (yeah, I know you can't see, so just trust me)

It's a simple form for contact name for whois, and 4 lines to write your nameservers on.

Then you click "submit", and get the message that they'll get back to you within 24 hours (In poorly worded English).

24 hours will come, and go, and go again, and still you will hear nothing.

So you try again, and realize that while they aren't setting your nameservers correctly, they are making a pretty penny on PARKING your domain.

Incentive to hurry up and do the right thing?

None, that I can tell.

Snap tells me I'm on my own, and once 60 days finally does elapse, I can only imagine the trouble I'm going to have transferring a domain from a registrar in Germany (Me = USA) when the CP doesn't have a "lock" feature, but the domain certainly is somehow :'(

Anyone else get routed there from a SnapNames victory? This one almost seems worthless to me now, as the trouble to get the name will be over the value of the name if things continue...

Disgraceful IMO :|

Unfortunately that's one price to pay for using any of those BO services. How
else will they be able to catch the name before the others do? *sigh*

I feel your pain Allan. Many of the names I've snapped have wound up at some quirky registrar where even simple tasks are made difficult. Sometimes I wonder if these 'partners' are 90% drop chasers and 10% registrar, because that would explain the lack of organization. Maybe they just put up a store-front for registrations, so it looks good.

That is about all I can come up with, at the moment.

My "satisfaction" rating for Snap has fallen to below that of TDNAM, if such a thing can be imagined.

I finally called the registrar's contact #, and sure enough... "No speakez english".

Time to bring Snap back into the picture...

that's terrible :( how can a "international" company not have english speaking employees? I don't get it..then again - germans in general aren't very good when it comes to english so it's really not a big suprise. Have tons of german tourists here in Oslo, they always ask for directions in german. If you answer in english, they're lost. Some speak a little english - but most are lost :/

I had a similar one that took many tries to get a domain unlocked for transfer and the DNS changed. I had to copy past the site text into a language translation site and try to figure out the controls. Many translations of this sort just don't make sense.

I also once won a name at snapnames from a registrar that didn't even have a front page yet, but said coming soon. You had to email a personal request for them to do anything since there was no control panel. At least they did speak english.

Good Luck.
