well folks- we are ready to start rolling ou the PrimeTime Auction!

the website is here:
http://www.auctionsite.tv

the auction dates are: 8/6 - 8/10

there will be a live chat auction each day so we are not trying to sell off 300 names in one sitting-

depending on the amount of names submitted, we will have a silent auction going on in the backround all week- this is if there is an enormous amount of names-

what names will go in the live auction? well, there is a small committee who will go over all the names and have to make that decision. and it will be based on some simple guidlines. but if there is just enough names for 5 days of live auction, there will be no silent auction-

how much will this cost? there will be an entry fee- there will NOT be a percent taken from sales :) the entry fee will cover several things- it is not free to do one of these things- there is hosting, advertising, etc.. the business associated with running the site- that is what your fee goes to. if you do get a sale, it is all yours :) the entry fee is $10.00 per 10 domains.
to keep things easy is is just done in those blocks- so 10 domains would be 10.00- 14 domains would be 20.00. 19 domains would be 20.00, 26 domains would be 30.00- get it?

will i sell my domains? well, if i could predict that, i would be pretty dang rich. we are going to do everything we can to get the word out about the auction- and, since this is such a tigh-knit group, i am really hoping those involved will also help in promoting the auction- is there a chance no one will come? yes- there is. is there a chance this will be successful? yes- there is :)

if you have any questions please post them in this thread and they will be answered in the thread-

now, some reality talk... this is an auction. even tho people may come knowing the prices "can" shoot thru the roof, if the place is filled with high dollar reserves for medium quality names, you might not pull the bids- i just want you to keep that in mind- at auction you only put in names with a reserve set at the absolute lowset you will take- and be happy with that if it sells for that- but if you submit something like ILoveJersy.tv with a $1000 reserve, well we may not even put that live.
i am NOT saying go low, I am just saying that is how an auction goes- so keep this in mind when choosing your domains and you reserves- i am going to do a mix- some excellent, and some good, with the good names having very low reserves, to get people bidding on my names-

now, i have to get dinner on for the kids- i will be back tonight with more details- so start goin thru your portfolios!

you know - its funny- just before every single moniker auction, people all over the place are complaining about the names that were chosen-
here we thought- shoot, lets takem all and let the buyer decide- and shoot.... heehee-

"Just one man's view that may be worth nothing"

hey david- your opinion IS worth something- its what makes the world go round!

levd- sorry dude- i had to stop taken names- i still have people emailing- catch the next one!

also- just an fyi- i submitted to pr.com- and got the email it was approved- and would be here:
http://www.pr.com/press-release/46897

but it is not there yet- and is saying it was approved- but not yet released- i believe it is set to release tomorrow or tuesday-
so it will be at that url-

we are >this close< to advertising in the entireweb newsletter i mentioned with over 600,000 subscribers too-

ok, gotta go make a ziti

Trust me, I am not hating on people's names. Definitely, to each his own. I have sold zero for o domains for hundreds of dollars, only to let good keywords expire from no interest.

I was just speaking in reference to the auction as a promotional event geared toward endusers. We all know how the name game is, but I don't care who is reading this, there are some duds in that list that only the domainer who registered them would love. And I know you got paid considering how many names you got. But if it was all about exposure for good names, then good hyphens could have been included.

Again, you obviously got what you wanted, but I doubt too many endusers are going to sit through TheVodkaChannel.TV, YoDude.TV, StructuredSettlements.TV, to get the really good ones that are here. (I am guessing these names mentioned will sell to someone at sometime. Just not sure this is going to work out for them like they think.)

Sure I will catch some heat for this post. But I was pretty excited about this concept till I saw the list.

Having said that, I am for anything that brings positive exposure to .TV (Sure that line will get lost.)

i didnt get paid anything- :) i had no interest in the money- just trying to sell my, and other peoples domains-
if i want an item, i wait and get it- simple as that- i dont think if an enduser wanted a name, he is gonna say, oh skip it- i have to wait 30 minutes- they dont say that in the live auctions either- not everyone is there to bid on every name- my husband will drive across 5 states to buy a certain car- an enduser will wait 30 minutes if they want a name-
this is one reason i divided this up into 5 days- then i hear there is complaints for that too-

again, i think people think people just want end users if they will pay 5 grand for a 50 name- people complain about moniker, sedo, tdnam- you name it- and its ok- i did not do this for cash or for praise- but it is nice when people appreciate what you do-
i did this to put our names in front of the public, trying to reach beyond this forum- that was my goal, and i am daily working towards that- names will sell- and i can bet it will be the "sub-standard" ones that go -

OK so now that the submitting is closed the total tally of listing fees was $600, so own this domain nobody doing this for money. Secondly $200 of that $600 going to an AD, there will be a fee for the chat server and the rest of the money will be donated to charity in the form of Ribbons for all to see once the auction is over and whatever other fees are needed to be paid.

I agree a lot of the domains are not stellar no offense I do not think every domain in your sig line is stellar. But the uproar if we only accepted 100 domains would have been great too. Since we are the two people working on doing this for "FREE" to help everyone else no one else IMO should be upset or disappointed it is cheap exposure for your domains and if people their domains were not good they could have only submitted 10 some submitted 80 or 100.

Lastly the subpar domains have a better chance of making a sale imo as the high reserves on some of the quality domains will impact their chance of selling at the auction.

At the end of the day everyone here knows where Dottie has been advertising
Rupert Murdoch (news corp) will not be at this auction, Steve Hirsch (Vivid Video) will not be at this auction, Sergei and Larry (GOOGLE) will not be at this auction, THE only real buyer at any NP .tv auction LOCAL EXPERTS will not be at this auction the other buyer JOHNtv just dropped $10,000 for E.tv for a year so I doubt but I do not know that John will be a big spender at the auction. So I don't think there will be too many xx,xxx sales IMO

OTDN - High paying keywords such as these are indeed worthless. Sell me all of your high overture generics for reg fee now to offset any loses you may incur in the near future.

:hehe:

Oh and BTW - SmashFactory & EQ rock for getting this auction all setup. Many thanks to them for all the hard work done - I for one appreciate their efforts!

:kickass:

I like that domain ROY the advertisers pay $$$ for the keyword, that is a domain where you want the weight of the keyword for development and SEO it is not intuitive to the .tv but that keyword is taken everywhere. Good Luck I think it an excellent domain

You all will have to stand in line... behind me and many others to take cracks at my non-stellar domains. I think I have some good ones, but when I first heard about the auction, I knew I wouldn't have submitted all of my names. Some just don't have the stuff. Or at least I thought.

My point was, after seeing the names, I was surprised. There are some really good ones. I am just giving a little constructive criticism from outside of the fish bowl that is this TV auction.

I wasn't trying to kick up any inuendo about people simply doing this for money. I figured no one was making much if any. But money was needed to fuel the promo machine. I was just confused because this was supposed to be tempting to end-users. Yet half the names are not even close to the top 20 names in the list as far as quality goes.

Again, from my angle... well, nevermind. I am sure it is going to be a success. This forum has been a success. This auction will see a good number of sales. I guess if I want to do it differently, I should. LOL.

Honestly, your idea is so good, I would like to see the available names match the effort you put in. That's all I am saying.

Those are good points OWN Dottie and I had a phone call on a Sunday night first time we ever spoke to one another that lasted for 6 hours her husband woke up at 4 am and was like what the heck is going on ?

We both agreed there were a lot of domains that people would say "How could that domain get in ?" Then we were like well if we only pick premium domains some will say this was an elitist auction, we also looked at who thought Moneytalks.tv would sell for $15,000? Thirdly the premium domains that were listed have xx,xxx to xxx,xxx reserves.

Now I said to Dottie right away who is the end user for a typo? or for an adjective ? and she was like your right but for the first auction I do not want to exclude and I said I agree because then only a few people will ever be interested again.

So it might be an auction that people don't think highly of but it is the first and we are not MONIKER who has the experience of running professional auctions and there is a learning curve so hopefully each auction will get better as you learn better ways to run an auction.

I am pretty sure I understand where you are coming from.

One of the problems with the forum-post process, is that people can't tell what your attitude is.. well, most of the time. I never doubted your vision. As a matter of fact, I asked Smash how I didn't know about this thing. I would have loved to have been on board, but alas, I was out of town for the better part of the month that this was advertised. Whatever.

So, again, I wish you the best.

Don't take me too seriously... My analyst doesn't.

OVT numbers can also be schewed like anything else.

Example, we are all domainers here. How often has any of us ever searched for that? How often does the phrase come up in daily conversation? Point is, if it were a hot phrase, we would have known it, or would have had a friend who was interested in it. :hehe:

OVT is not always eveything its cracked up to be.

It is certainly a phrase I know it is a big money business common to most who deal in finance and insurance along with the banking industry

I would suggest WE ALL should try and market this auction as best we can. Post it on your blogs email a few companies that may be interested. You never know.

I am going to send an email to a few top level Democrats and Republican and election websites and to let them know that Democrat.tv and Republican.tv is up for auction and if they want it they need to come to the auction. The same for Breasts.tv, I will target a few Por... a few Cosmetic Surgeons to let them know about it. This is a grassroots auction and the more we all put into it the better chances we will have to get real end users to come and bid.
