Watching all the excitement and interest in BIDO, I was thinking about having a .tv version scaled down.

Many times when we have auctions it takes forever and there is a lot of no sales. So I was thinking about doing a $1 Start 1 tv auction every friday at 12 NOON. Eastern time.

I think 12 noon would be good as just about everyone should be up in Europe and Asia, I do realize that it is still late for Australia, but an earlier time makes it real early for people on the West Coast in North America.

So to do it right and we are not going to start for a few weeks to get it right, Everyone interested in submitting a name will submit it to me by pm.
Then those names will be place in a thread where people will vote which name they would be interested participating in a $1 auction. The top vote getting domain will be the Friday .TV nooner.

So the process would work:
Submit names by pm and you can only submit one per week
Names must be submitted by Monday,
Tuesday the thread vote
Friday from 12 eastern to 1pm Eastern Auction starting at $1 in live chatroom

This way its a targetted auction, if you like the name which you will know about you can pop in at NOON for the .tv nooner.

Balance is going to be needed for this to be something worthwhile, meaning a good name you think could sell is what best to submit, a new reg with no use will probably not even get $1.

So feel free to comment on the .TV NOONER

Any and all new ideas brought to the table to promote the .tv presence can only be a win-win for all of us who have faith in the .tv extension!

Great Idea Equity!
I'm in.
Rep Added!

Would the auctions be for premium names, non-premiums or both? I'm in the poorer class of domainers, so I wouldn't even bother to look at the auction if premiums were involved. I just could not afford the premium reg fees. As it is now, I find my non-premiums always painful to renew.

Maybe two auctions would attract more interest; one for premiums and another for non-premiums.

The thing is... from experience, I don't think that it's such a good idea.

Here's what I think will happen:
1) Seller puts up a name
2) Some of the potential buyers do not show up (maybe busy)
3) Bid does not go high
4) Good names sell for a cheap price.

Then, people will think that .tv in general does not sell well and the reseller market value may go down.

Hmmm,

After reading a few of these Posts...
and after thinking about this a little bit more.
I think I changed my mind.

As I got into the .tv's not too long ago,
I don't have alot of HIGHLY rated .tv's.
Some are very good, some are less desirable,
but the handful I do own, that I believe are MY best,
I wouldn't want to auction one of the few great .tv's I own,
with a possibility of not getting the high dollars that I have faith in them fetching.

That would incline me to only submit a .tv that was close to expiring, and I didn't too much care about the outcome, because I was going to let it drop anyways.

It would be a stellar idea, if we had the audience/participation of a site like Bido, but Ii only see this taking time to build THAT up.
Then at that time, after the first few auctions happen, maybe I could see the strength in numbers, coming to the Friday Noon auction, which will then slowly fetch more and more interest.

Well Steven that's the chance someone takes, if a person cannot remember 1 name on 1 day a week that's on them. Secondly if there is interest people will be able to proxy bid through me.

I doubt anyone will put up a premium and start it at $1.

Thirdly what people will think, one just had to look at the .tv marketplace and gauge that for themself. This $1 auction will not affect anyones overall opinion.
