Hey NP Members,
NamePros helped me alot in learning about domain business, I am interested in this business, it was looking a simple business at start but as I moved deep in this business, I came to know that business isn't that much easier. I started buying domains some days back. First few domains I purchased were totally a scrap worth 0 $ and they were gcgeo.com, anyapk.com and bluribbon.com, all the three domains were having page rank and old enough but no keyword or brandable. I bought these domains from expireddomains.net.
After few discussions and reading about this business, I came to know that domain name must have some keyword and demand for that keyword. I started searching for good domain names in daily expired domains availability.
My Criteria for Domain Name are:
  • Must be English keyword.
  • Keyword must have adequate search on Google.
  • Domain name must be less than 8 characters.
  • extension must be .net, .org, .com or .info.
  • all other top extensions of the domain must be registered.
  • Check SEDO for price tags of the same name in different extensions and their availability.
  • Page Rank has no importance
Now, I am realizing that if domain extension is other than .com then it means it's worth is less than 10 % of .com extension . My recent purchases went well as I purchased
  • hosters.me (Wrong decision of buying .me)
  • soccermanager.info (I think this domain is worth 50 to 100 dollar)
  • twinktube.info (Adult Domain name but worth 50 to 100$)
Expired domains .com section do not have much profitable domains so today I tried hand reg domains on GoDaddy in bulk search for .com domains and found some domain names which I want to share with you people, If these names are worth registering than do let me know, otherwise do guide me what should I keep in mind when going to register any domain name.

b4buddy.com
lv4all.com
m4riffle.com
donate4poor.com
i4ios.com
i8ios.com

These are some of the domain names which I think are worth buying and can generate some profit. Please guide me in this regard.
I am having some questions in my mind which I want to ask experts here in this forum.
  1. Effect on domain business after opening of hundreds of new extensions?
  2. Is this business now worth investing?
  3. domains bought from expireddomains can be worth profitable? From where these domains originate, I heard that these domains after expiration goes in auction by registrar and if failed to sell in auction than will be available to us via expireddomains.net ....
Right now, I am doing blogging business running different blogs like nowupdated.com, stayupdated.info, iphoneleaks.net. I sold my domain names justmobilephone.com for 50 $ and apkcrack.com for 50$ in last year. Can I understand tactics of this business ? Should I move forward or leave it here. I am not having much money to invest in domains for reselling, I can just buy 50 to 100 domains each using godaddy coupon.

Today, while browsing expireddomains, I found ff1.info worth buying. Why I am thinking that this domain is worth buying ??
  1. FF1.COM sold for 1550 US $ in 2011 January
  2. All the major extensions of the FF1 are not available. (Showing domain is worth for users)
  3. F is the premium letter ....
  4. 3 letter domain name
  5. Extension is among the top 4 .com, .net, .org, .info
Am I right in taking this decision ??? is domain worth buying ?? what other factors I should keep in mind while making decision ??

The character domains like FF1.com are only good if they are .COM. Yes, .NET and .ORG may be taken, but that doesn't mean they are good. So ff1.info isn't good either. It must be .COM for 3 character domains.

C - Character

CCC.com value: 200+

CCC.net and all other extensions: $0

The domain industry has a kind of "retail price" for certain types of domains.

Here's a quick value list of different types of domains:

(C means character, N - Number, L - Letter)

LLL.com 7,000+

LLL.net $450+

LLL.org $200+

LLLL.com 22+

NNN.com $50,000+

NNN.net $1250+

NNNN.com 2500+

CCC.com 200+

NNNNN.com 75+

Then for normal domains like generics, brandables, etc., the best way to find the value is comparing it to similar domain sales. Say book.com sold for $100,000. If you have book.net you should price it around 10%-25% of what the .COM sold for. .ORG is generally a little less valuable than .NET. Then .INFO is worth even less: about 5% of .COM.

This is all just what specific types of domains generally sell for.

Here's a couple of general rules to go by:

- .COM is king

- Brandable domains must be in the .COM extension

- 4 or more words is too much, 3 words is often too much

- They more generic, the better

- The shorter, the better

- There is always a GoDaddy coupon for anything you buy from them. They have .99 cent .COM coupons.

These are some basic principles to go by.

godiddly .99 cent coupons are what make newbies go broke

which is more valuable, which fits extension best?

cancer.com , cancer.org, cancer .info, cancer.net?

I think .99 cent investments are a good way to start for beginners. There's usually only like 3 codes a month for this anyway so I don't think anyone's going to go broke from this. What will make you go broke is buying aftermarket domains if you don't know what you're doing.

From all above conversation, I got the point that as a newbie, I must stick with the .com , for LLL or NNN we can think of .net or least .org ..... Brandable names must be .com ....
All the factors which I am taking into account are correct ....

lottery tickets are $1.00 and folks stand in line every day to play

yet, how many win, and out of those, how much, and..how often?

and you're correct, if you don't know what you're doing, you will go broke either way.

so, that means, knowledge is the key...but newbie's are too impatient to learn

and that's why you have $.99 cent coupon codes.

:)

imo...

BIGGIE, I would buy cancer.org first BUT if .com is available I would certainly buy that.
