Am I being unreasonable?

I had a domain reseller, (How I know this is looking up his domain, linking his name) wanting to buy my domain name for 150.00 (texandemocrat dot com)

I recently have had other higher offers, that didn't pan out. I have built it up and am making 5-7 dollars from adsense. I have submitted several articles that are pending approval, so I am trying to get traffic from it, etc. I have written articles and still have 20 more that I plan to use with the site.

I told them that was a very low offer, I also told them I wanted $10k or more and they wrote back and told me I wouldn't get anything higher than what he was offering.

I want to sell it but I am still in the air about it.

Also would anyone out there know the best way to sell this and where to sell this?

I just need some guidance :)

Why did you counter with $10,000 (if I'm understanding this correctly)?

Thanks for the assist.

@ avg $6/day, that's about 5 years rev. O.P. says he has articles pending approval which would likely only improve this further. Seems like a reasonable first counter imho.

If I remember correctly from a previous post, this site is less than a month old too, right?

How long?

Thanks, I've visited the site ... and agree that the articles that have been written -and- currently pending approval will add to content and its traffic / value. How long has the site - and updated content - been up? How much traffic does it receive (and for how long)? How many registered users? Any other revenue other than Adsense (and, for clarification, is that $6 / day) and, again, for how long? :gl: :talk:

Hoping to be of further assistance, as I like the website and design! :music: :imho:

10k is a bit steep :imho:

I always counter high when I'm dealing with domainers -- you know they'll ask if you can go any lower no matter what you offer anyway :hehe:

Jimmy - you really need to clarify if the $5 - $7 you are making from Adsense is per day, per week, per month etc. As everyone is presuming per day but I have noticed you do not specify in your original post. This information will greatly effect the potential value I believe.

I am earning from adsense about $5.13-$6.40 a day. It's been up for about 3 weeks. I countered 10,000 because it's a great domain name and it get really good traffic because of John Kerry's site is one letter off. I have also built it to if you go and look up search results Texan Democrat, I am ranked 1st!!

Its a great site and once it really picks up, it'll go up even more in value (so I am told)

I am really happy everyone likes the design and layout :) I worked really hard to make it awesome!

Jeff, IIRC JimmyRich bought this domain to develop and got an unsolicited offer. I think for this domain 10K is a little high but if he wants to dev it though and the only offer on the table is $150 bucks I would not sell. The other person is being unreasonable IMHO.

The proper response to this is:

"You can certainly say that I will not get more than $150 from you for this domain but you cannot tell me with certainty that I will never get more than $150 from anyone for this domain. On the other hand I can tell you with certainty that you will never get this domain for less than $20,000. I bought the domain to develop for my own use so while $150 may be a lot of money to you it is not to me. I have put more than $150 worth of time and resources into this site and your UNSOLICITED offer is frankly an insult to me."

$150 and his attitude is an insult. The site is good and it looks like you have out more than $150 worth of time and resources into this site.

Good luck. :)

I've been hoping to assemble the information as accurately as possible (thank you for the clarification on the Adsense per day, for instance), IMHO. Again, I agree that it's a nicely developed site, and there is good long-term potential here ... I do not see the $10,000 as being a reasonable counter at this time (being up only three weeks, etc.), but since there is no urgency to sell (and the low offer is coming from a domainer (of all people)) and this higher figure / range might one day be attained in the future, best to continue to build and brand, and optimize IMHO. :gl:

Keep up the good work! :talk:

I have put in alot of time and effort into this site and I plan to continue :) The guy wrote back again to tell me that I was being greedy. I have yet to answer him. I just feel that this is definitely a memorable site!

I would sell it but I was really hoping I wasnt being unreasonable. I am surprised ppl have contacted me in regards to this site.

I think $10,000 is unreasonable if you want to sell. If you do not want to sell it is the amount you feel that would help your get another domain and continue your project or start another. I have been offered what I am sure the other guy felt was a high offer and politely refused. I have never dealt with someone as rude as he seems to be.

If he calls you greedy call him a self centered pr!ck with an overdeveloped sense of entitlement. :imho:

Domainers want stuff CHEAP, but no worries ... keep up the good work and revisit in ~ 6 months+ (with additional engaging content, and hopefully increased traffic, registered and active users, improved Adsense, consistently improving revenues, SEO, etc.)! :lala:

All the best!

Nice :)

I'd tell him to take his offer and shove it up his OOPS, got a little carried away there :red:

Don't waste your time with that idiot. If your name's making $5+ a day, who the heck would sell it for 1 month rev?

It would be awesome to sell but I really want to get it going and off :) I think that I should sell it in ...ahh who knows!

I think it'll go up in value.

Nice name, and its always good to see people developing their domains. IMHO though, the domain's current PPC earnings are so high only because of where you are currently in the US political cycle. While clicks will probably always be there, they are bound to drop to boring levels during non-election periods. So when pricing the domain based on PPC, you'd have to account for that, and bring down your value estimate accordingly. If pricing based on other things ($10K to influence who wins or loses US elections is reasonable!), then PPC valuation would be less relevant.

HEH! I think I know what you feel like. You want to sell it but if you do you will never get it back and you wanted it for a reason.

Don't sell right now, you'll regret it. :)

If your site is developed and you wish to sell the website based upon net revenue alone just add 3-4 years to your price, is common in the business world. Of course in business many companies sell for loads more due to other factors such as market share.

For a small website such as yours just tally up your annual revenue and add 3 to 4 years to the price.

However i do agree that its only earning this amount due to the current elections in the US, so more than likly it will drop. My opinion is to sell now. As for the $150 offer, you must be kidding, thats like a days work and im sure you spent more than 1 day on this website.

Good Luck.
