Alexa traffic ranking

Need some help.

How to interpret the Alexa traffic ranking number.......

Anybody can help?

i have one site is 5xx,xxx
Another one is 1,xxx,xxx

I got more visitor to the first one, so I think smaller number should be better?
Is that right?

Yea, i think thats the way it works because google an all r in small numbers.

Yea, the more hits you get (visitor must have alexa toolbar) , the lower your number

How to interpret the numbers?
What is the defination of the number? i.e. what does 5xx,xxx means to 1,xxx,xxx? how much different between them?
