Hi Guys,

A bit of a weird one here. Dubai airport is also known as DBX. I happen to own the domain XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

What are the chances of any implications here?

I am looking at offering it. I originally registered it with Dubai's tax free shopping in mind, and creating an ad site with shopping guides but the CPC for these ads make it not worth doing.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Dubai Duty Free seems to be a shopping center and not government owned. They had sales of 590 mil us last year.

So to answer your question, airport codes are not trademarked. But your problem is not the airport code, it would have to do with you confusing the public that you are part of the shopping center. Even though word are completely different, Dubai does have a secondary reference as DBX, hence, it may be viewed as riding off thier TM. See Mike Rowe Soft for reference.

Thanks for your time DNQuest. I will contact them about it and if they seem upset ill go from there.

Cheers

By contacting them, you are showing bad faith (IE- cybersquatter, registering a domain with the intent to sell it to a TM holder).

I definitely agree with DNQuest. I would not contact them unless I was contacted, which they would do if they were interested.
