Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Brad, you appear to be optimizing for elegance and simplicity rather than for shareholder value. I'd encourage you to step back from the immediate solution and think more ambitiously about the larger opportunity.

@GoDaddy BUG REPORT ⚠️

When uploading through CSV with an empty Down Payment field, for a domain that currently has a Down Payment value configured, the Down Payment field is not cleared. Expected behavior is, of course, removing the Down Payment for that domain.

⚠️ @GoDaddy I'd suggest increasing the pay for your LTO translators. At the moment, some English words remain untranslated, which suggests the translations aren't being reviewed. Could a quality check be introduced? You've brokered $2B+ in domains, yet I'm the one reporting these bugs. Why isn't this being caught on your side?

I have not received any response yet.

I thought this transaction was going to move quickly, so did the seller.

I asked for Afternic to just cancel the transaction if it is going to take forever, so we can complete it via another method. Either that, or let's figure out what is happening and move it along.

Then, fix whatever the underlying issue is.

Brad
Hi Brad,
Sorry for the wait and confusion here. We now carry out additional verification for some transactions involving extensions such as .us, .ca, and .au to meet requirements. The specific requirements vary by extension.

As part of this process, we contact the buyer directly to complete the required verification. Once those requirements are met, the sale can move forward.

We’ve added more details to our FAQs, and your account rep will be reaching out to you shortly to discuss this if you have any further questions.

If a field is left blank, no changes will be made to the existing data. This is something that we mention in the CSV file, but we’re happy to clarify.

So, the first two transactions I was the seller.

Those were eventually put through manually, by unlocking and providing the AUTH code. There was no sign of any Afternic agent reaching out to me otherwise.

This time, I am the buyer. There has been no contact with me directly to confirm anything.

This is an under $300 transaction. All this is doing is adding an annoying bottleneck to transactions.

At this point I would rather just pay the GoDaddy commission (for nothing) and cancel the transaction, and close via a different process. It is not worth the hassle.

Brad

I'm seeing what are clearly fake bids, such as bids > Buy Now prices or bids that keep coming after certain domains with dubious offers. I hate to see the brokers waste a minute on such non-offers. I also don't care to see such bogus behavior treated as "In Progress".

Dear Afternic: Can we please have a "Quick Kill" button, which registrants can click, as soon as a bogus offer comes in?

This is not about clarifying.

There must be a procedure to remove an existing Down Payment, using the CSV method.

It must either be honoring an empty Down Payment field and remove it; or you create an option with an explicit "N" instead of an amount in that very same CSV column to remove it.
