Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

One of my favorite experiment wins: showing the price to inquirers right after they fill out the Price Request form/survey. Win-win. You capture the contact for follow-up and future campaigns, and they can buy on the spot. Ramped up to all domains under $5k recently.

🤔

edit: this ”take action” email was originally sent on Apr 9 when those 2 domains expired (briefly) and it was re-sent today for no reason

Gee I wonder where they got that idea from?

Glad to see this thread. It's always better when feedback is collected in one place instead of being spread all over the forum.
One thing I have always been curious about is visibility. It would be really helpful if sellers had a little more insight into how often their domains are being seen or why some listings seem to get more exposure than others. Even basic stats like that could help people make smarter pricing and listing decisions.

I'm noticing a potential big Incorrect WHOIS Data Bug. It looks like you can only edit "Contact Info" in one place (individually per name or in bulk). But when I do a CSV export of domains, I'm seeing different/old data (not what is currently showing in the "Contact Info" section - it shows Old Data that was changed). Shouldn't changing "Contact Info" change all of that too ? @GoDaddy

If you look at Portfolio / All Domains -- there are columns that give some basic info (Views, 30/90/365 Searches). You have to scroll the column headers to see more info. You can also get these columns when you do a Domain Export.

Good point -- my bad. I didn't realize that was part of the DDC Membership. Sorry for the confusion

Why would you? It makes no sense.

Afternic makes money selling domains in the aftermarket.
Afternic provides information to sellers so they can increase the prices and STR of the listings
Afternic then paywalls the information that may increase their revenues.

It boggles the mind

Sure, but those all all behind the GoDaddy paywall.

Not really, as you have to understand that GoDaddy is a monolithic company with a lot of little people running each little department, and with any acquisition, closure or other corporate change, these little despots are all trying to steal as much of the revenue pie as they can.

So when the Dan/Afternic amalgamation was being done, everyone was trying to maneuver into an advantageous position, and one of them was whoever runs the Domain Academy area. They lobbied for a Domain Academy paywall to be erected to artificially generate more money for them, even if it hurts the Afternic group's revenue and that of domain investors.

@Afternic new feature request: hide these stats. They are not useful on a day to day basis and take up an exorbitant amount of real estate on mobile.

The only thing I want to see when I login is that big fat zero next to “on hold”.

I realize there are people (in addition to GD/Afternic staff) who have a fetish for portfolio optimization. Some cheering comments on X would otherwise be unexplainable.

And that's fine by me but I agree with @Kyle Tully

It drags down the dashboard performance and doesn't provide anything worth seeing on each visit. Either optimize it, or let users hide that stuff.
