Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Yes. That is super bad.

I can think of one reason (upselling)

The only logical reason I can come up with is this is getting Premium aftermarket confused with Registry premium domains which are X amount for 12 months

yes and as a buyer that would stop me completing the sale.

I hope its a genuine error that they will fix and not a ploy.

@GoDaddy Is there some legal/accounting reason you don't let buyers immediately pay off LTO (lease to own) balances in 1 single payment? Having someone make 12-36+ manual payments one-by-one is kind of crazy. That's alot of friction with a lot of potential for annoying payment issues.

Is that from an example you have where they did NOT allow someone to pay off the LTO? I always thought it was possible for a buyer to pay the total amount early based on one of their FAQs about LTO (see attached).

I had to 'drop' the AN nameservers for a few minutes on one Name to verify ownership elsewhere.
During the downtime a Search Hounds lander proclaimed that

"This Domain is available on GoDaddy Auctions." :nailbiting:

Had me sweating for several minutes...

It is possible to pay off early, but not in one single payment... Really annoying.

Thanks. The 12-month messaging on the BIN pop-up was a display error that our team has now corrected.

You're welcome, I can confirm the update.

Please change the word FEE to PAYMENT:

Instead of
  • Premium Domain Purchase One Time Fee
  • Premium Domain Purchase One Time Payment

A fee is service related. Commission is a fee. There could be a fee for handling the transfer. But a domain purchase is not a fee. Thank you for your attention.

@Afternic @GoDaddy

Please stop sending emails on domains that have been sold and no longer listed by me.

I've already mentioned this a couple of times. Today you sent out an email on a domain I sold on Afternic back in August of 2024. It looks like you just have an automation-bot sending out emails on an annual basis??? Please have that automation-bot check to see if the domain name is still in my portfolio before sending out emails...

You have to make the separate monthly payments one by one. If it's a 24 month lease and there are 22 months remaining (you already made 2 payments and want to pay off the rest) ... you have to checkout and pay separately 22 times one-by-one -- 22 charges to your credit card manually.

Still waiting...

I'm pretty sure that your Bank/CC Provider would step in very quickly to block repetetive repeat
transactions like that.

Certainly in the UK - I've already had problems using my card 3 times in one hour in different parts of a supermarket!

Why does Afternic accept payment and then request a domain transfer, but not set a Payout Date? I asked the TA last week and this week, and it's always "we're finalizing the payment".

Huh? Why didn't you finalize the #$&% payment *before* requiring me to transfer you the domain?

And worst of all, since then, I've got a pile of new Afternic leads that I absolutely refuse to engage with until I receive the payment - and yes, the brokers keep asking me for updates. No way I'm transferring any new domains over there before I get paid for the old ones.
@Afternic @GoDaddy yeah been issue lately for me along with the high commission rates I have had enough and slowly transitioning away
