Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

No, I expected them to ask me questions that only someone with access to the account would know.
Like PayPal's security questions.
This is called KBA (knowledge-based authentication). It’s considered obsolete because it doesn’t (and never did) work. Turns out, when researchers looked into it, attackers were better at finding the answers than users were at remembering them.

I have twice in recent weeks filled out "Price Request" forms for domains I am interested in. The GoDaddy lander says "Get a price in less than 24 hours". I have not received a reply in either case.

I obviously don't know if the sellers use self-brokerage or Afternic's brokers, but this is not a good buyer experience. I wonder how many sales are missed because of this.
If you're using Gmail, it’s worth checking the Promotions tab.
I once had the same issue and found both the price and the follow-up emails there.

Thanks, but I don't use Gmail, and I haven't received anything in my spam folder. My guess is these names are self-brokered, but as a seller I would personally reach out to all leads.

Request Price Lander cannot be self-brokered. The only self-brokerage option is the “Make Offer” landing page.
It’s frustrating you haven’t received a reply from a broker though.

Oh, I didn't know that. That makes it even worse that Afternic's own brokers don't reply.

That's bad from a buyer's perspective.

It's VERY bad from a seller's perspective who use price request landers in that they may never know there is any interest in their domains.

How many total domains is this? (Just trying to see if this is in any way stat sig)

77 in total

And what lander was being used?

I've largely used the BIN lander. Started using the custom lander with BIN+Lease+Offer only in December for 30% of the domains.

Also, it would be nice to get an email confirmation after filling out the price request form.
Update: I did get a reply from a broker now.

Hello,
Please help me check why we added GamerBonus.com and Medmerry.com, the domains automatically disappeared from our account shortly afterward. Why is this?
Thanks

I've explained it all to AN and just waiting for their response.

The good news is that I've found my own way back into the account. :xf.cool:😅

As mentioned, I still had access to my GD account so I changed my email address
there to match the AN email, then at the AN sign-in I chose to access via my GD account.

It still returned to another AN sign-in box but this one had the option to choose between
both phone numbers to receive the code.

nm, for some reason one of my custom landers was misconfigured (I don’t remember selecting BIN only option)

I already undestand that nobody is going to change anything, but could you please explain to all of us, how the buers are supposed ti make a minimum offers when they see this crap on the right?

I really feel sorry for the sellers of these domains, and thousands and thousands of similar ones, because they don't even check GD reg path and aren't even aware that GoDaddy is shooting both itself and them in the foot.
Hi @Timkh,
Thanks for sharing this with us. The SERP team now has this specific feedback about the “Why it’s great” panel.

Because changes in this area can materially affect conversion and outcomes for both buyers and Afternic sellers, we handle them through controlled experiments rather than one‑off edits. The team will run tests around how this information is presented so we can confirm that the changes improve conversion rates before rolling it out more broadly.

While you got a reply from the brokerage team, we'll DM you to double-check what happened here.

End of the year Report. Thanks @GoDaddy @Afternic

Happy new year!

No need to do any experiments, it is no brainier that you should hide auto appraisal when it is lower than the buy now price! How on earth keeping it will help improving conversion rate?

@GoDaddy

James, The "Why it's great" panel had been hidden from buyers for many years, if the minimum offer exceeded the values shown in that panel.

This changed just a month ago. Apparently, as a result of yet another glitch, GD reg path started showing both "estimated value" and "why it's great" even when the minimum offer or Bin are higher than those values.

As a result, your team fixed the "estimated value" issue but forgot about "why it's great" panel.

I even suspect that no one in this team was aware this panel existed.
