Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

At least you can "unlist" (=hide) your domains instead of deleting them. Then they are still listed but not for sale.
Yeah, I guess so. But I just shouldn't need to go through that process. Grr

I have a number of names that I get emails to approve fast transfer. I never listed them, someone else is.
Afternic support was useless when I complained

Just log into your afternic account, and re-add the names back, you can only take care of yourself.

@GoDaddy Can you please bring back the support number on Custom Landers?

Hi @Blueleaf66,
We can confirm that we'll be retesting the support number on the Custom Lander. It's temporarily down while we make some adjustments to ensure it's a valuable addition to the page.

Am trying to list Ethereum247.com but it says Not Approved due to Trade Mark issues ?

There are Dozens of "ETHEREUM" domains listed on Afternic ?

Oh hey @Afternic how are we supposed to quickly update the BIN prices? Oh, you know... like the super easy fast we used to be able to to it via the DAN interface? Click on a field update price and bam. Done. Now if you want to update BIN price a pop-up with multiple fields happens. Yeah, it works, but it's tedious and time consuming. You have an export feature. Why not an import feature? An import feature where we can have CSV file with desired values for BIN, Floor, etc, etc and can just import to easily bulk update? I only have 100 domains, I can't imagine the headache for some owners with 1000's of names. Any thoughts?

There is a CSV/XLS update function, it's under Add Domains - you can download a Template, fill it in and then "Upload a File".

When the broker's name is Forename S, does that S stand for slow? Sloth? (those who have seen Zootopia can easily visualize this). Two recent examples, one can't even close within the next workday after I've accepted an offer.

I was going to keep my domains listed so that they would sometimes appear in GD search path (make offers only), but I can't live with this "box of chocolates" situation, where I seldom get a good/not-meh broker. I need to watch my blood pressure.

Unlisted (at least until self-brokerage).

While we're talking about names... I had this in the signature of an email from Afternic Support:

It made me really nostalgic, and I wished it just said 'Dan Aftermarket Support', without that other name below it. Oh, for the good old days! 🥺🥺

Unlisted (at least until self-brokerage).

The 'extremely long wait times' coupled with 'a total lack of control' along a dollop of 'zero critical information flow' makes Afternic a platform that is impossible for me to sell on.

I really don't understand how other people cope with the 2-4 day intervals between steps and the near-constant "Stall/Confused" status updates. What I could do on Dan in an hour often takes a month on Afternic.

I attended the 4 hour Master Class from Domain Academy yesterday. It was worth it, for some of the information discussed. They have another one coming this week. I asked Joe about when Self brokering was coming. Still didn’t give a time line, but said it’s coming.

They are trying to improve, but self brokering is the key. That and their high commissions are letting others take share. 25-30% is just crazy, if you don’t use their DNS. I did learn how to use their direct link on sales we find on our own.

I'd assumed that they would just cover things that every serious domain investor already knows. What was the most valuable thing you learned?

I just don't understand why Godaddy is dragging their feet on Self Brokering.

  • Self Brokering creates more deals for Godaddy, Sellers and Buyers
  • Godaddy can reduce their staff of brokers which helps their bottom line.
  • Sellers close deals way faster and more often with Self Brokering.
  • Godaddy and Sellers would all make a lot more money.
  • Self Brokering is a WIN Win for everyone.

What's the hold up?

I was wondering..

My first ever inquiry on AN went stalled less than 24 hours after it had been submitted. So I was happy when, shortly later, two new inquiries came in ( for two different domains, with two different assignees). That was by the end of January, and I haven't seen any updates to the negotiation logs since. Is this common?

I still haven't messaged the brokers to ask about any news, for I don't want to distract them from their work. However, I don't know if I should.

Not complaining, @GoDaddy , just checking, because I am not familiar with the way these processes go.

I appreciate advice, thanks in advance everyone!

Yes that's true. For me it was how to use the direct link, when we bring the buyer, 5% commissions.
Also hearing them trying to explain how their brokers work and best way to contact if we have a problem...live chat.

Those are most likely stalled too. Broker will most likely attempt to email or call the potential buyer at some point. At least that's what I've seen on mine.

It's a good sign when broker emails me.

Their support told me to contact them. I ended up changing the NS to another marketplace.

Brokers did this, indeed. I was worried because I haven't seen any other movement after that. Status is "Negotiation", so maybe there's hope after all.. Fingers crossed!

Thanks a lot for your comment, @End Game !
