Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Different things, though. Finding out where the price originates from at one registrar vs what AN partner registrar the buyer used (what marketplace vs what registrar). Of course we can check registration data later but that doesn’t help in the offer phase.

afternic said many times standard much smaller than premium net
Yes they say that but then they present the figures themselves, and the premium network is far smaller - count the number of registrars yourself and you can make up your own mind at at https://help.afternic.com/s/article/Afternic-Partners

Usually don't do longer term payment plans but I agreed to one today. 50k sale, 1 payment down, 29 more months to go. See if it completes or defaults.

@Afternic
small suggestion on the afternic boost. don't you have a mechanism to detect if a lead / sale initiated from the boost or by other means?. if it is from the boost, then you add your 5%. if not the seller will not be charged the extra 5%.

About 4 months ago I posted here several issues that led me to disable Afternic Boost & LTO and pointed my entire portfolio elsewhere. Since then I'm glad to say that later most of these issues were resolved and I started enabling Afternic Boost & LTO and re-pointing my portfolio to Afternic Nameservers.

I hope things stay stable and looking forward to more improvements & features to come.

Thank you @GoDaddy & @Afternic

If the boost is enabled, they still charge a 5% fee even if the sale didn’t come from the boost, right?

It might just be me, but whenever I see Boost, Plus+, Super, Turbo, Prime, Extra, etc

as more expensive add-ons it's saying to me that the original service I paid for isn't producing

maximum results.

This is true! And it's the most annoying thing to me because if they have a way to determine people sell up to 10% more with BOOST, then that implies Afternic has the ability to distinguish a BOOST vs NON-BOOST Sale. So they should only apply the 5% BOOST surcharge to actual BOOST Sales. They might be hurting their overall net profits by keeping this unfair BOOST Surcharge across all sales when BOOST is turned on, which makes people want to opt-out of BOOST. Is hurting overall net income from Afternic sales a win for GoDaddy shareholders?

Yes, this is true. If Boost is enabled all sales are charged the original commission + 5% Boost fee.

I tried both, with and without Boost, and sales numbers are almost the same. The reason I Opted-in for Boost is my belief that even one extra sale because of Boost should cover the extra 5% Boost fee for other sales.

It depends on the inventory you have but in general, I agree with you, Boost features for all sellers would be better if integrated into the original service for maximum results.

@Afternic @GoDaddy

I received this email unexpectedly. Does it suggest an active buyer, or is it just a routine verification request? The domain has been listed for a while, and my dashboard shows no recent activity.

I received the same email last week from 123-reg.

I'd only just listed the name on AN.
... and there seemed to be a lot of small print so I just left it as 123 have started to be a bit slippery lately.

Investigated the email a bit more today.
It was actually from AN just branded up with 123-reg, asking to Authorize 'Afternic Premium Network Program'.

No mention of Fast Transfer Network anywhere - I had to Google it to confirm.

Still unable to check out the T&C page.

"The Premium network offers maximum exposure for your domains and eliminates the lengthy escrow process."

Well it looks like someone at Afternic pulled the short straw and had to go through the system backlog, as I just got 3 new offers in a row.

Custom Lander Suggestion / Question @GoDaddy

For the Custom Sales Lander options that include Make Offer, it seems like the minimum offer amount should be visible.

The Buy Now price is shown. The LTO payment amount is shown. For Make an Offer, the minimum is not displayed.

If someone enters an amount that is below the minimum offer, the system displays the amount in a sea of red ink that suggests user error. That seems unpleasant for the user and could be avoided with the greater clarity of showing the minimum offer amount upfront.

Here's my core problem with Afternic and the primary reason why any domain seller requires the option of self-brokerage in order to actually make sales at the low-end and mid-range price points.

Let's say a potential buyer offers $2,000 and you could counter at $5,000.

You wait 3 weeks, while the broker responds to the buyer and receives responses, back and forth and forth and back, then you suddenly find it's in a "Stall" status along with the generic Buyer indicated the domain was priced outside of what they wanted to spend" update.

Without being a part of the negotiations, how in the world is anyone (other than the broker) supposed to know what that means, and how to respond, especially after 3 weeks? Is the buyer stuck at $2K, changed their mind and not interested at all, could go higher, but not the full $5K, got fired? died? what?

It's like playing chess blindfolded while using a Ouija board to determine your moves. I feel it's impossible to sell at Afternic using this existing crazy-ass "man behind the curtain" system, because you don't have the requisite information needed to make a sound decision. In fact, you have no information and you're just stumbling around in the dark for weeks on end.

I need a self-brokerage option at Afternic like the desert needs the rain.

seriously tho think about it do we even know for sure and zero dount that every offer or even bin buyer makes doesnt go thru some manual human check and or approval before we get it

so in your case well maybe someone just.. woke up

probably untrue and outlandish but.. we live in world where stranger happens

I am very puzzled about one thing. A few weeks ago, the. ai domain could not view any registration information, but now it has started to open up some information, such as registration date, expiration date, etc

The ai registry is under new control.

Hi @E. Silvera,
While GA-4 isn't something we can offer, we do provide on-site visitor stats to give you helpful insights into traffic heading to your landers. What would you like to see added to our on-site visitor stats features?

Hi @Sandro.Agency,
Could you DM us with the domains in question? It seems you might have posted them in a subsequent message on the forum, but it would be great if you could confirm.

Hi @DomainRecap,
Unlisting and hiding both mean taking your domain name off the active "for sale" status, which removes its distribution and lander usage. We'll consult with the team to align the action under one term. But for now:
  • Unlisting: This is a bulk action. You can select one or more domains from your Portfolio page and click "Unlist" in the footer menu.
  • Hidden: This option is available on the domain details page or by editing any of your domains individually.
When a listing is removed from circulation, you can find it here: https://www.afternic.com/domains?filter=notListed. Relisting from this page is straightforward.

Thanks for highlighting these @BritFlippa. There's plenty more to come from Afternic in 2025!
Hello, it is still not transferred
