Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

@GoDaddy I noticed that when adding a domain on Afternic, at the end of the submission, there is a banner that says "To Get Started....ns1.afternic...ns2.afternic...

Maybe that could be quickly updated to say ns3 and ns4...or ns5 and ns6.

That would be a good start. And also in the blogs and help section. It's noteworthy that Afternic has yet to publicly acknowledge or address this issue, despite multiple reports from myself and other forum members.

In reality, adding the correct NS RRSET for Afternic customer child zones on ns1 and ns2 is a relatively straightforward task. It could be implemented within a short timeframe.

An alternative solution could involve remapping ns1 and ns2 to the IP addresses of ns3/ns4 or ns5/ns6, which already are correctly configured for Afternic customer domains. Don't forget to change the glue records!

The IP adresses of the current ns1 and ns2 nameservers (97.74.99.64 and 173.201.67.64) could then just continue to host the dedicated NameFind nameservers for GoDaddy's own NameFind portfolio.

I'm flattered, but I'm drawn to environments where I can contribute to a culture of innovation and growth. I'm not sure this is the right fit for me.

I feel you are way too diplomatic @Future Sensors
It's preposterous that Afternic has yet to publicly acknowledge or address this issue, despite multiple reports from yourself and other forum members.

Given the US is about to engage into crypto, Godaddy who when they took over Dan, integrated BITPAY, whereas DAN was doing crypto internally prior to that. So you have the resources, and know how to integrate BITPAY, everyday that you avoid this payment channel, you are losing business.

Degen Crypto buyers are some of the best domain buyers as they have funds, and they understand digital assets. You allowing them to openly purchase from their wallets, given it's 2025, and it's not integrated is very sub standard.

ATOM, DYNADOT, NAMECHEAP, NAMESILO are some companies that have it enabled.
Hi @wwwweb,
Adding alternative payment methods is something the Afternic team continues to look at. However, it hasn't stopped us being a part of some of the most important domain sales heading into the Web3 arena ;)

@GoDaddy There's a bug in the CSV Bulk upload process. I've uploaded a batch of 13 domains, and the upload_results csv says "ADD_PROCESSED" for all of them. One .com domain however, was not added to portfolio, and it's not in the Pending Review overview either. This has happened more than once.

I have now added this domain manually.

What does "ADD_PROCESSED" really mean?
Hi @Future Sensors,
Our team sees 13 names added to your account on 1/25, which are all active. Please DM us if you're seeing differently.

Thanks @Silentptnr. ns1/2 vs 3/4 or 5/6 is something that has been discussed here in the past. We'll be checking in with the Afternic development team to ask them to re-review this.

That's because I've manually corrected 1 of the 13 domains, as I wrote above.

@GoDaddy

How is progress on the Self-Brokerage System update going? Is there a new ETA for its release?

No idea what's going on at Afternic, but everything has dried up, No new offers, no updates on existing negotiations, no nothing. Even the traffic on this thread has ground to a halt.

It's almost eerie. 👻 :vamp: 🧛‍♂️

At what point do brokers contact you about an offer a buyer made for a domain you have listed?

4 days ago, someone made an offer on a domain of mine. It was very low, and I wouldn't have accepted it, however, it seems strange that 4 days have passed and Afternic never alerted me about it, gave me the opportunity to accept, counter, decline, etc. The only reason I know about it is from looking at the lead center.

I think after a buyer makes an offer, the first step a broker should take is to contact the seller to see how they would like to proceed.

Hi,

Maybe you should try looking into your Spam folder. It has happened to me and other members that the first time your email handle receives the Afternic Sales email it is classified as Spam.

Nope, nothing in spam.

In the lead center it just says -

- Lead Created (1/22)
- Status updated to Active Discussions - Engaged with buyer (1/22)
- Email sent to buyer (1/23)

My point is, I'm not sure why they even are talking with the buyer and not giving me a chance to accept, counter, decline, etc. their initial offer.

It's now been 4 days of no activity, and I never heard about this lead once from Afternic. Maybe they messed up the deal and didn't want to message me.

Had you previously set a BIN and a FLOOR price? They request that to start negotiating, but if those numbers are already set they don't notify you early, as far as I know.

I only have a BIN price, no floor price and minimum offer is set to the default $20.

FLOOR is optional. If you don't have one set, then they will consult you once they have worked out the buyer's best offer.

That's par for the course, as every single step at Afternic takes 2-4 days (and sometimes longer) so I would imagine that the broker is still trying to "confirm" the offer made on your domain, and until he or she actually gets around to it, nothing else will happen.

I've had offers (I use min 4-figure offers) just sit there for a week or more, and when I inquire the broker tells me "I am still trying to confirm the offer." It all seems a bit insane, as usually the final offer (when both parties agree on a price) is the one being confirmed or verified, not wasting 2-4 days confirming each and every single offer and counter offer that comes in.

It's a lot like watching paint dry, as you have zero control and it can be so incredibly slow as to be infuriating to some (like me). And due to the extreme delays in the process, I find the Afternic platform virtually impossible to sell on.

I continue to get offers on my "request price" landers. Though, maybe 1-2 real offers for every 20 "confused", "stalled", etc.

I just sold a one word .US today for $7,500. It was priced. Non-boosted like usual.

I assume the buyer bought it via direct navigation to the lander, not via word+extension in GoDaddy search.

Still waiting on self-brokerage...I have a couple thousand domains not listed at all.

That's the only viable solution to the current state of Afternic (and I've been told this by GD as well) - just put a BIN price on everything. Remove the brokers from the equation.

But that's not my style as I'm not really interested in the money for more than its role in adding more/better domains back in my portfolio. That's why my domain sales needs fluctuate from week to week, and one major reason why I find it impossible to sell on Afternic.

I require control + the ability to make lightning-fast deals, neither of which is available or even remotely possible on Afternic.

On Dan, if I needed $$$ to buy domains then I just sent out a few limited-time BINs to prior leads and magically the funds would appear. On Afternic, I'd need to wait weeks for a "quick sale" using this same process.
