Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

The New Self-Serve Process
With the new self-serve system, you can now process pending review domains quickly and independently, eliminating the need to reach out to support (except for compliance reviews). Here’s how it works:
  1. Identify In Review Domains: If you have domain names with an “In Review” status, a refresh button will appear next to them.
  2. Quick Resubmission: Simply click the refresh button to resubmit your domain listing into our system. The resubmission process can take up to 24 hours and can be attempted only once within this timeframe.
  3. Bulk Resubmission: For those with multiple listings in review, you can select various domains and click “Resubmit Listings” in the footer toolbar to process them in bulk.
  4. Automated Integrity Checks: Once resubmitted, our system will analyze the domain name and perform necessary integrity checks to ensure it meets our listing standards. Approved domains are automatically reactivated and made available for sale.
We’re excited to launch the first iteration of the Pending Review self-serve system, but we’re not stopping here. New features and updates will come to the system, further reducing your listing management time. You’ll be able to read about those updates first through the Afternic blog.

@GoDaddy - This would be an ideal solution for those pesky domains that, for whatever reason, get stuck in a pending opt-in status.

Hi @Blueleaf66,
The domain's in our holding account now, and things are progressing.
Thank you. I noticed that the transfer has finally happened. Glad to see it. I guess everything is ok now?

Today, we’re announcing the launch of our Pending Review self-serve system, a powerful tool designed to simplify the domain review process. Quickly and independently process pending review domain names!

I just read this and immediately went to Afternic to reprocess my "Pending Review" domains and miracle of miracles, they'd already been processed and are currently in Listed status. O_o

🥳🥳🥳

Boys gonna party tonight!

Who's the PM at Afternic?
They're deciding the wrong features to release first.

Give us these first:
Self Brokerage
Down payment for LTO

I recommend a powerful too that lets people report unregistered domains. Then the powerful system figures out which account had this unregistered domain. 5 strikes and account suspension. Too much time is spent trying to verify domains when they should have been deleted by the previous owners. Sedo does this automatically and sends an email letting you know.

But only after self brokerage. If it ever happens lol

After transferring the custom link to Godaddy, everything has been getting worse and slower. It has been 7 days since my client made the payment, and I submitted the transfer code on the day of the client's payment. However, there has been no progress so far. I don't know what these waiting times mean for the TA team at Afternic? We will lose precious customer trust and hard won orders due to the negligence of these garbage

Hi @Afternic,

I have this one domain, D-Trump .com

and I had it listed on DAN, and supposedly it should have get synced with my afternic account, after DAN shut down,

but to this day this domain is not being listed there.

I don't get why; I never changed the nameservers (which where DANs), and many other domains had no problems at all (being synced),

the that's the only domain, that is pending sync, since MONTHS.

All time it was that "Sorry, d-trump.com is unavailable" stuff, and most likely I lost some nice leads here...

Just saying.
They wouldn't list my Trump name either. I assumed it was a legal matter.

@GoDaddy does NOT want to fix this. This has been going on for years and this forum gives plenty of examples and frustrations with the issue. All they have to do is require verification before allowing a domain to be listed for sale and that will greatly reduce the problem with new false listings. To address the current false (or inactive) listings, they should run routine checks for txt record or nameserver verification of currently listed domains. If the txt record/nameserver is no longer there, the current domain listing should be automatically removed.

The problem many of us have, is believing @GoDaddy operates in good faith and cares about what we think. They do not. They operate to make money and they are making money. If it is at the expense of our sanity, so be it.

Good time to give a reminder for everyone to periodically check your GoDaddy accounts and remove any subscriptions you didn't sign up for.

They've accepted e.g. McDonaldTrump .com, so they're checking only new listings, I presume.

My YTD performance numbers are just showing the same as All Time.

I wish that was YTD :xf.laugh:

I'm still with Afternic because of the 'dangling carrot' that is the Self-Brokerage Tool. If that never materializes then I am gone with the wind.
The question is: what time limit are you putting on it? Otherwise you could still be saying the exact same thing in 5 years time. It was already meant to be here, and isn't. And furthermore...
I'm worried not only about when (if) that actually happens but also the terms applied and the technology of it. Somehow, I do not anticipate a clean, efficient implementation, at least not out of the gate. I feel like they will want to boost the commission or fees above what one might normally expect from a self-brokerage path.
We all know that what Garet says is true. I'm not sure that GD has ever implemented any new thing well. It's always half-baked (if that) and even if they get a self-brokerage tool I am pretty sure I won't want to use it - well at least not until they've had 5 years to fix all the issues.

There are good alternatives already. I am very happy to not have to deal with the GD mess.

I had a long back and forth real time conversation with a potential buyer yesterday through Atom. Seemless. Do I trust GD to achieve anything near as good? Nope.

Newbie here who has just signed up with AN. Feeling a bit apprehensive now. :tightlyclosedeyes:

Are Atom & Sedo suitable for my first venture into listing, or am I better letting AN handle

everything until I get more experience?

I personally believe the end game is to shut down everything and run the marketplace through GoDaddy again, using either Dan or Afternic as the temporary bridge, and shutting down the other one to save costs.
Interestingly the domain Afternic.online is for sale for just $8250 at https://www.atom.com/name/afternic.online

The listing there says this about the name:

The name evokes feelings of excitement and opportunity, hinting at the endless possibilities that lie ahead for any business that chooses to make it their own.

@GoDaddy - I recommend utilizing some of the resources that were wasted on creating this tool to update the Godaddy Valuation tool...for the sake of accuracy.

It hasn't been updated for nearly 2 years. That's a tremendous amount of missing data.

Although it's nothing more than a novelty, given it's heavy integration into the platforms, one would think the updates would be frequent.

Even as a novelty, without accurate data/numbers, This "Pricing AI" is a total fail.

Thanks for the feedback, @411domains. This AI tool does more than just rely on GoValue data - while that's one metric, we also consider various factors like leads, offers, listing duration, and even similarly priced listings.

These insights provide suggested pricing ranges as a more in-depth metric to help you think about optimizing your listings to help to increase buyer engagement. It's exciting to see AI features being tested at Afternic, and we're committed to refining and leveraging them further!

@GoDaddy - This would be an ideal solution for those pesky domains that, for whatever reason, get stuck in a pending opt-in status.
Agreed, @411domains! We'll be launching pending opt-in capabilities soon.

Hi @yueding,
Can you DM us an example, please?

Many Thanks!

I hope they have plenty of coffee on hand. It might be a long chat for them.

One quick one which you - or the members - might advise on :

Most of my domains have just been registered.

What's 'best practice' regarding listing them during their first 60 days?

List these domains as usual through your Afternic account. Once the 60-day lock from your registrar ends (a standard procedure for all newly registered domains), you'll be able to activate them for the Fast Transfer network, provided they're .com, .co, .net, .org, .de, .biz, .pw, .io, .xyz, or .info and have a Buy Now price under $100,000.

If your domain sells within the first 60 days, our TA team will be ready to assist you!

Also, setting a Buy Now price and using a sales lander can greatly increase your chances of making a sale.

Best of luck!
