Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Hi Bob,
You're correct, this Aftermarket tab we're experimenting with is a Boost exclusive.

@GoDaddy - Exact match boosted names do not appear anywhere in the Aftermarket tab results, but at least buyers have the ability to ADD the Fast Transfer active names that appear in the Aftermarket tab results to their carts. Whereas they cannot in the main path, which is absof'inglutely ridiculous.

I suggest the teams experiment with removing the Express Checkout from the main path, so that buyers are able to add Fast Transfer active names to their Godaddy carts as well.

I guarantee there will be a noticeable uptick in Fast Transfer sales through the Godaddy path, but not until the Express Checkout is removed.

To watch the Godaddy path drop from the #1 Fast Transfer sales path on the planet, to the least performing path has been a disappointment.

Quite frankly, I'm surprised it has been allowed to gone on this long.

The worst part is, you're losing your own customers to partner registrars and you don't even know it.

Express Checkout = BAD

@GoDaddy So, premium domains won’t show up in the main results. Buyers will have to click ‘Aftermarket’ to see the Premium domains, right?

@silentg - It's a bit of both.

Main Results:
Exact matches appear in the Godaddy path.
Premiums appear below the "Promoted" garbage extensions and alternatives.

Aftermarket Results:
Only Premiums.

I have a question @Afternic / @GoDaddy.

On the landers, we are able to pick the 'Make offer' option;
which I do.

When I now get a notification in my dashboard (potential buyer requested a price),
I am given the ability to set my BIN and my floor price.

Most of the times, I only set a BIN price.

Question:
If the potential buyer does not accept my BIN, and my listing does not have a floor price,
is he (the buyer) still able to counter my BIN price?!

...and will I be informed about that?

Just asking, as the broker has no ability to negotiate here, as there is no floor price.

Not that the broker says: "Sry, seller did not provide a floor price, therefore we cannot negotiate;
you either accept the BIN or not..."

Thanks for letting me know.

Now it's 12 days since someone purchased my name and I provided the auth code, and nothing has happened since then. Usually I receive the payment from Afternic latest the next day... I'm not sure what the domain buyer is thinking at the moment, maybe he/she'll just say 'fuck this shit' and cancel the sale. Very professional, this is how a market-leading company should operate, right? :D By the way, is there anyone who would like to start a new Dan.com? If yes, please promise me you won't sell your business to Godaddy...
I wanted to give an update about this sale. Godaddy user gave me a good advice, I've raised a ticket at Afternic, and the next day I received the confirmation email about the transfer. I approved the transfer and I got the money very quickly. So if there's a problem with the sale, just raise a ticket, and they really look into it. It's not ideal, but at least there's hope :)

Hi @silentg
The Results tab remains the first port of call for buyers and of course, aftermarket listings display there. All exact-match Afternic listings display through the results tab, along with Boost names in suggested search results.

The Aftermarket tab is a value-add experiment for Boost customers to bring increased exposure to aftermarket listings through suggested domain name results.

I have a question @Afternic / @GoDaddy.

Hi @Andreas B.
Thanks for your question! Setting a Floor price is optional, but it gives Afternic's brokers a helpful range (from the Buy it Now price down to the Floor price) to negotiate within.

If you choose not to set a Floor price, buyers can still counter your Buy it Now price. However, the negotiation process might take a bit longer as the broker may need to contact you for more details on your pricing expectations.

We hope that helps!

Airo ai search now shows Afternic listed domains:
I only tested a handful, but it seems to me that aftermarket names do not show in Airo unless boost is enabled.

Even when I search in Airo for exact term, even if I add extension, it does not show even though it is Afternic listed, FT and using their landers. Unboosted names do show, for now at least, in the regular GD search when extension included, and GD Auctions search.

I have replied to Paul on X asking if they plan to extend this to those without boost. I will post here if/when I get an answer, or perhaps the @Afternic account can answer.

Hi Bob,
As with the standard GoDaddy search, exact-match keyword searches show an exact-match domain, while suggested/generated results are Boost-exclusive.

Yep, the "Premium" affix does not mean it's a Premium Domain, it just means it's a Boost Domain.

The domain in question could be XHYEGJHHGEOPGKSBEMFOSOTS.com, and as long as the owner is paying for the Boost in commission, it's denoted as a PREMIUM.

Hi Bob,

I see exact match for non-boosted names at the top of the "Hello, success!" results but without price -- the renewal amount shows but not the price. All of the names below do show price.

That path where price is missing is from "Start with AI Domain Search."

I look forward to Abdul Basit's monthly afternic sales reports every month. Funny how this month he has not published one, I heard his sales were dismal, like abnormally just fell off the charts, I think reading thru this thread others have the same experience. So what has happend since the close of Dan, and all these "boost" experiments that sales have fell off the board so much?

Hi Bob,

It does not seem so for the search box labelled GoDaddy Airo, at least from Canada (may be in other regions) and for my account.

Here is one example to show, but I have tried numerous and they do not show. The attachments show situation for name airstrip.xyz. First attachment shows that it is listed with FT active. The second shows the lander is pointed to GD and the name indeed shows, so no review or other issue. The third through sixth show the complete search results when I search specifically for the name with extension (see A) using GD Airo. It is not presented anywhere in the field of results.

Update: Just to clarify, the unified search does show the name, but the GD AI-powered search shows some other aftermarket names, but not the exact name searched (see below).

I have tried a few other names (about 6) and this is true for all. They do not show in Airo, even with extension given (or specified in words), and even though they show in GD search when I include the TLD.

That is good to know. Maybe it is delay in rolling out to Canada. Have you tried extensions other than .com?

Thanks for continuing to follow up, and show your results with graphics, it really helps everyone out, so appreciate it, I know you don't hear it enough. I really hope Afternic is building new tools for ALL it's clients, and not just "BOOST'ed.

I only checked .com and .io. Noticed GD was showing registered .io as available so I reported it to James.

So many domains are going into pending review, randomly. This takes down the landing page. Potential buyers may land and see "This domain is registered, but may still be available," and just leave, as clicking "Get this domain" just takes you to the search with "This domain is taken," but pay us $69, and we could get it for you!

Why would they need to do that when you can just not flag domains for review and show the lander and not nickle and dime the buyer even more when it's clearly for sale.

Notices this as well, they are being compared to major trademarks and going into reviews ie domains such as AppleOrchards.com, would trigger "Apple" TM, and go into review, no idea how long they stay there for.

He stated that he will no longer make monthly sales reports so last month was the last one unfortunately.
